hi ginjababe, we've visited Kalkan a few times and love it. One time a few years ago, Bob Geldof was in our favourite restaurant  :o
do you know if a guy called Durali still runs a bar in Kalkan? (last heard of down on seafront).

I have lost touch with a friend who lives in Kalkan and would love to find out if by any chance you know her, if she is still there. I can't find a way to email or send private message to you, so guess it is ok to say it here - do you know Mary & Engin? If you go to our profile, you can send email.
thanks.

next time we come we will visit your restaurant!

Lynn

Subtle introduction to a lovely piece of advertising. I have no qualms with this but I think it's a forum rule that you don't advertise your own business. Can you imagine what it would be like if this lot started advetising their villas for rental? I'd be first lol.

Serioulsy though, I see nothing wrong with mentioning the fact you own a restaurant but you should then leave it at that and put a link in your profile. There's nothing to stop customers posting in the bars and restaurant thread.

Just my thoughts as I'm not a moderator but I can imagine what it would be like if advertising was allowed.

One thing I will say though is at least you are upfront and not like some who pose as happy customers of estate agents or bars etc.

Good luck with the business.

Stoop :)

Hi
will certainly check to see if Mary and Elgin are still there. I will ask some old die hards in Kalkan if they know of their whereabouts and let you know.

As for Stoops pertinent comments re advertising ....i was asked to introduce myself and this is what i did.... As you quite rightly pointed out I could have gone incognito but this is not about subliminal advertising but about my life here. Winter time is tough sometimes and I am up for getting something new and exciting happening be it in Kalkan or Fethiye. If anyone wants to set up some Murder Mystery evenings or have a theme night in a restuarant in Fethiye then great I will be the first to come...sorry if I offended ...not my intention...

Gingbabe,

I was not being pertinent, merely pointing out that it is not normally allowed to advertise your business on the forum - as many others have found out in the past. As I said -  I have no qualms about it personally but I'm sure you can imagine what would happen if everyone was allowed to do this. The forum would be inundated.

You certainly did not offend me and I hope, likewise, I didn't offend you. As I said, good luck with the venture.

Stoop

I take it you are asking because I'm always on here -lol. Well I'm actually a qualified Financial Consultant but unfortunately I've been off sick since February - so after I've done all my chores for the day I can come on here (ha ha). I'm actually awaiting a decision on early retirement at the moment as I am unable to continue doing the job due to my hearing loss, tinnitus and balance problems.

PARDON?

You are getting the hang of the humour on here very quickly.

Ginjababe, thanks for saying you will try to locate Mary & Engin. Last heard of a few years ago, they were selling the villa in Kalkan and moving across the bay - can't remember the name of it, you can see it from Kalkan looking out to sea, over to the left, lots of building going on there a few years ago. hope you find her!

stoop, sorry, off topic I know ... I also have inner ear disorder and stagger about a bit,,,, even before I've had a few Efes. Is yours Meniere's?

PS Edit (at risk of  8))- sorry - IS YOURS MENIERE'S?
