I have just been browsing through various sites and came across this one..........most probably because Talk of the Town seems to be the topic of conversation at the moment, and as I am part owner and also its my show there I feel I should respond to Sleuth!!!
Everybody is entitled to their comments however I must stress now that the show is NOT just a Drag show it is a VARIETY show and unless you have been sleuth then I take your comments as prejudice even your comments on the male belly dancer come across this way. Having lived and worked in Turkey for 13 years now owning property and business there I feel I have a right to give the TOURISTS something different and enjoyable and having entertained 26,000 people alone last summer 2007 I feel myself and my team have achieved that. So Sleuth your comment to maverick about him working there was wrong.......Just to put you right on that score!!!
To all the readers that read this forum I will be biased and genuinely so, that whoever comes to TALK OF THE TOWN will be guarenteed a fantastic, stress free, enjoyable side splitting FAMILY evening whether you are black or white, man or woman, boy or girl, straight or gay, old or young, and all this without PREJUDICE.
I look forward to welcoming you all to what I know will be a great summer season to all of us..............even you Sleuth!!!!!!

Perhaps you could introduce yourself before advertising you business concerns?.P.S. You won't catch me at a show like that in the UK and you definitely won't get me at one in Turkey. But I do enjoy visiting Hisoranu :)

It's fair enough that he came to defend his business, I'd do the same.

But you should introduce yourself  :)

Sorry Scunner, I may be wrong, but I am inclined to agree with `georgeous bird` here. I believe his post is more of an opportunity for him to put `bums on seats` and promote his establishment rather than defend the comments I made. A good excuse  for a `freebie advert` maybe.
Sorry , but wild horses wouldnt `DRAG` ( excuse the pun ) me into your establishment  either in Turkey or in the UK.For all the people that enjoy the spread of the `boom boom`, karaoke, elvis impersonators, english pubs, drag shows  etc.. around the turkish coastline.
I guarantee theres more of us who resent the trend.
Unfortunately a lot of the Turkish bar and restaurant owners, and business people seem to think ALL the english want this type of entertainment out there, and thats the problem. As an example
ask most bar or restaurant owners to play some turkish background music instead of say Tom Jones, and they look at you in bewilderment, but are generally pleased to oblige. The trouble then is that sometimes  some english group of people in  there starts to complain and wants Tom Jones back on. 8)
As for us, we  frequent our apartment now many times out of season... its really  refreshing, and so much better than the season.
No gangs of loud mini skirted girls  parading about , or groups of beer swigging males. I can recommend visiting out of season.

Being interested in military history, and in particular the first world war,
I had a week on my own in Canakkale , last august,( my wife couldnt come with me )its close to the Gallipoli peninsular.. what a beautiful area and a lovely town. It was a revelation to view how turkish people enjoy their holiday and leisure time. A lovely experience.. I was on my own there for a week, but I was never `alone`   . everywhere the turkish hospitality overwhelmed me. Get away from the  `tourist areas` if you can.. something else I recommend.

Sleuth, you need to accept the fact that you have purchased a property in a tourist resort. The same goes for the ex-pats who now live there. This type of entertainment exists in most tourist resorts on a global basis. Yes the majority of tourists are Brits, so the music is a nice mixture of both cultures. I have been to Talk of the Town in Hisaronu numerous times, and would pay to go to this show anywhere in the world. It is a family show, and it's a bloody good night out! The problem with some property owners and ex-pats is that you seem to have forgotten why you moved there, or purchased property in the first place. It's a holiday resort, so if that's irritating you now, then obviously you have some tough choices to make. Hisaronu is a HOLIDAY resort, and it's a great place to have just that! When I get tired of the scene, I go into Fethiye, or Kaya, or Oludeniz and of course Calis.  There is so much choice for you, so why focus on your negative prejudices?

Personally I am with Sleuth (and GB) on this; if they performed in my back garden I'd close the curtains - but it's personal choice, some people must like it or they'd be gone long ago.

My point is that whilst I agree the post was very detailed and advert like, you started it by criticising the place, you have to allow him the right to defend his business. If you hadn't said what you said, he wouldn't have said what he said  ;)

I still live in hope of an introduction though. That would be courteous.

:)Another case of each to their own, I like a bit of a mix myself, so i'm easy pleased, but there are certain types of Turkish music I just can't stand, sorry, i have tried but not my cup of tea,

hi
firstly sorry for not introducing myself, I have now done that and in my introduction made appologies for not doing so.
If my post on here came across as 'advert like' then so be it, but thankyou scunner I agree with you I do have a right to defend my concerns.
I also totally agree with babayard, Scunner you have purchased property in a holiday resort!!!!
I stand by my orriginal post I think alot of prejudices come across on many issues.

How do you work that one out?

Babayard said people who purchased property in Hisaronu - which I haven't. She didn't say I had either.
