Hello Mauren and welcome to the Forum.  Calis must have something special to draw you from Lymington which is one of the loveliest towns I ever remember visiting.  I used to live in Poole and we went to Lymington and Lyndhurst when stocking up on venison sausages for my brother who was in the army at the time.

My husband retired last year and I plan on doing the same in May next year and moving over then. I love hearing stories about how people moved and what problems they encountered (don't mean that the way it sounds) and what unexpected events took place.

Please tell us more about your move.

Teresa

Hi Maureen etc, welcome to the forum. Although we do not live in Calis permanently, we do live in Emsworth while in the UK. Well done on your major move!.

teresa 321 hi we made the move from lymington because my husband Paul was never home working all the time ,and when he did get back he was tired he just slept ,and we never went out to enjoy ourselves,i agreelymington is anice area ,but very expensive and snobby.Paul my hubby came over first to look for somewhere to live and found this villa paid for it i had not seen it so i was worried ,but it was ok.my son and i left uk 14 days later ,travel in pauls van with our personal things and it was packed to the roof,it took us 8days ,we had a laugh as we travelled through france as we got lost  a few times ,1 time when we got lost we ended up on the french alps as we where going a long my son was pointing out the  the views which was beautiful ,but it was so bendy with the sharp bends, that after a while all i wanted was to get down to some where flat as possible,we were travelling with 2dogs as well 1was 6months 1 was1 year old.but they were so good, and in france and italy we took them in the hotel with us ,when asked they said ok.In 1 hotel they said we could park underneath but it was so low it nearly took the roof off we stopped just in time it was funny.never did tell paul.thats only part of the story but had better end now .maureen

That sounds an amazing story Maureen, it appears you will have a lot to entertain us as we sit in the UK dreaming of Calis.

Left the UK 14 days after you bought the villa.
Oh Maureen - how we envy you! You lucky people.
We had hoped to be out there virtually fulltime well over a year ago but (long unhappy story) we're still not at that stage.
Teresa - we hope we get out there fulltime before you do BUT after the last year I have my doubts.
Things always seem to take longer than you suspect & then some.
Sometimes it seems it's just the thought of getting to Calis keeps us going. We'll really treasure it when we do finally make it home.
Linda
