Hi,
I'm Lisa and my husband is Terry. We have been thinking of buying a place in Turkey for a couple of years, but have decided that this is THE YEAR we are going to buy our home in the sun.

We are trying to track down the guy from Hotel Ernur who has been recommended to us, I think his name is Jamil and we are told he is in England at the moment. I have sent him an e-mail but he hasn't replied as yet. Our friend Leigh says to try this web site as someone may know where he is.

We haven't been to Calis but visited Fetiye four years ago. However friends say that Calis is the place to be so we are trying to see what villas and prices are available before we come over to visit later this year.

If anyone can help we would be extremely grateful.

Hi Lisa and Terry.

Welcome to the website and good luck with your search

I too would recommend you also approach estate agents and in my opinion (though others may differ) I would do this in preference to buying from an individual. You will also be able to see what properties they have via their websites now

If you are looking for suitable companies to try - just ask

Good luck with your search

Steve

Hi Lisa

Welcome to the forum.  You'll find lots of useful info on here and there's a search facility at the top which is useful.  Good luck with your property search.

Cemal is not an estate agent,he runs a hotel, find a recommended estate agent from this site, personally I would recommend Lagoon Estates, as will many others, or Cenk on this site is a reputable agent, who can be contacted through the members list.

and by the way WELCOME:D

I too go along with the others. Don't buy off anyone who is not attached to a proper estate agent, it is too risky. But shop around and haggle, they will give you a good deal. I bought from Infinity Estates and the after sales has been invaluable. Calis is very nice but watch mosquitos, Fethiye is much better but of course I am biased!

Hi Lisa and Terry.  The advise re using estate agents is sound.  We have heard several unhappy stories about people buying using "friends" that they have met whilst on holiday.  It isn't worth it.
We bought our apartment in Fethiye 2 years ago and love it.  I am sure you will too.  For us Fethiye has the edge, but having said that, we spend a lot of time in Calis and Olu Deniz.  It is so easy to get around.

Regards  Maggie & Den

The scenario of having to track down a man to spend your hard earned money brings up images of Del Boys dodgy gear in Only Fools and Horses. Don't do it!  There are plenty of real dreams to be had here. :)
