Seems I undervalued my 16 year old watch that I paid $800 for.

The best thing about buying a real quality watch, secondhand or new is, it will always appreciate in value and be something that can be passed down in the family.

Agreed Jacqui - that's why I need two - one for each son.

Patek-Philippe, Rolex, Jaeger-Lecoultre (JLC), Panerai tend to hold value better than brands like Omega, Breitling,Tag, Cartier, etc. In particular the Rolex sports stainless steel watches like the submariner have good resale values .But generally unless you have spent tens of thousands or unearthed a rare vintage watch you are not going to see a great return - they are not a good investment.

I have bought a number of 'FAKE' Rolex's from Ramos over the years and never had a problem with them. Indeed we have become good Friends with him and always pay a visit when we are in Calis.
The Rolex that I am wearing at the moment was bought from Ramos 3 Years ago for £35 and is still going strong.

I don't expect mine to increase in value but my 2000 Auto appears to be holding up well.

I would never sell either of them as they were bought to wear not sell.

I agree with your post SteveA

They are a better investment than buying fakes.
