Calis Beach Questions and Information / Re: Prices in Calis Beach?
« Last post by Dave Cameron on May 23, 2025, 08:19:55 AM »
Hi David, really good sound advise and information, we normally 'budget' about £100 per day for a light lunch and then dinner, so it sounds as if well be there or there about. We wemt in June last year and I recall that they were saying the same things, quiet and less people about but as the two weeks progressed even we saw that there were more people maybe because we fell i  with a local holiday.

We're going later this year, in September, so we'll be looking forward to that, but if there i anyone else reading this that would like to post any more updates between now and then, please post any information is useful

Thanks

Just got back from a great two weeks.  Seemed very quiet everywhere and all the restaurants were saying it is quiet this year so far.  However, it is still early season.

Prices...... They have definitely increased, but then so has the exchange rate.  I would say (in pounds) it was a little dearer than last year but not alarmingly.

It is always difficult to advise on prices as peoples needs and styles are different.  Some have three courses, several pre-dinner drinks and a bottle of wine.  Others don't drink and just have one course.
I agree that the "typical" rate for a large Efes in a restaurant is between 150 and 200 Lira.  At Brothers in Calis I think it was 185 from memory.  Plenty of places advertising 100 Lira for a large beer.

Our style is to eat at reasonably good restaurants, usually have a pre dinner drink, a main course and maybe a glass of wine each, or sometimes a bottle.  Total meal costs for us seem to vary from around £40 to around £75 depending on restaurant and food choices.  Several offered a bottle of house wine for 700 Lira, others of course were a bit dearer.  Fillet steak was typically around 1,000 Lira.

It's dearer than it was, but nowhere near as bad as the sensationalist press make out, and it won't put us off.

Thanks IanK, good information. When we were there last June, Efes varied like you have said, however in one restaurant when the bill arrived they tried to charge me 130L for a large beer, despite me sitting next to a sign saying 110Lira for large beer!! You couldn't make it up could you 8)

You can indeed pay up to 250tl for an Efes in some places and similar for a G&T. More realistically, 150-175 in many places in Calis and as low as 85-100 for "happy hour".
This was the case 10 days ago anyway!

We will be going on Tuesday (6th May) for just over 2 weeks, admittedly to our place in Ovacik rather than Calis particularly, but I will check back here again when we return and post our findings and opinions on prices.
Safe journey, David...I'm heading out to Tasyaka Wednesday 14 for three weeks; we may unknowingly cross paths.

It is not 'progress' as you say, but the reality in that there are a lot of people that do not like Facebook because of all the inane rubbish that is posted. I do not want to read of someone getting up at 3 in the morning because they can't sleep and I certainly don't want to read of what happened on someone wild night out!!

The only other forum I contribute to is Linkedin, and that has sometimes been accused of getting like FB, but it is well policed and posts are quickly taken down if thought to be unsuitable

I will continue to read and post, where I feel I can contribute, to CBF.
