Calis Beach Questions and Information / Prices in Calis Beach?
« Last post by Dave Cameron on Today at 08:28:21 »
I'm reading an alarming article in the press about 'Alarming Price in Turkey', the article is quoting £5 for a large Efes and £42 for 2 Kebabs and 2 Beers.

With excahnge rates as they are at the moment - +/- 50 Lira to the £, that would mean a large beer is 250 Lire

I understand that prices increase Year on Year, but we were in Calis Beach last year, and the average price for a large draught beer was 110 lira, have the prices increased this year, and if so by how much?

We are over in September and just want to 'be prepared'

Any information will be useful, not only to me, but to other visitors to Calis

Well said.  It is such a shame that this site is not really used much nowadays, and well done for such a well constituted poem.
Personally, I am reasonably computer literate and generally embrace technology.  Having said that, I really do not have any desire to use Facebook, and so I do not.  I cannot be alone in that.
I have never been an avid poster on here but I do look at it very regularly, and so I am sad that it is rare to see anyone post.
Hey ho......... I suppose it is called "Progress"!!!!!!

Calis Beach Questions and Information / Mourning the loss of Calis Beach Forum
« Last post by hornedfrog on April 10, 2025, 08:02:08 AM »
Once the CBF was vibrant and bright,
Calis Beach Forum, our digital light,
Where friends who loved turquoise shores would meet,
Sharing wisdom, laughter, making hearts complete.

Questions of visas, of markets, of home,
Tips for newcomers who chose to roam
To beautiful Fethiye's sun-blessed coast—
The Forum's kindness is what mattered most.

Expats and locals in harmony typed,
Supportive words when someone's hopes were wiped,
Celebrations shared when dreams came true,
CBF was family through and through.

But slowly, surely, the tide pulled away,
As Facebook's siren called members astray,
Notifications, likes, and instant replies,
Drew our community before our eyes.

Now echo chambers and trolls hold court,
Where once lived thoughtful, measured support.
Harsh words fly freely where kindness once reigned,
The peaceful spirit so hard to maintain.

Oh, Calis Beach Forum, we long for your grace,
That patient wisdom, that welcoming space,
Where Turkish neighbors and expats as one
Built bridges, not walls, beneath Fethiye's sun.

The CBF's heart still beats, though faint,
A digital ghost, a bygone saint,
Remember the forum where strangers turned friends,
Before social media changed how it ends.

High street is still open to traffic after complaints from seafront hotels , that access was restricted due to road being closed??
Everything else (except prices) more or less the same, still a great place to live.   :)  :)

Calis Beach Questions and Information / Where is everyone?

Hi members,
It's such a shame we don't have many posts on here anymore. When I joined 9yrs ago it was very active. I'm assuming many use Facebook forums now (as do I) but I still check in here every day to see if there's been any activity.
Anyway, as I'm here   :) has anyone been to Calis since last August? I'm wondering if the high street is still open to traffic. What a ridiculous idea, not to mention dangerous trying to cross the road, but also the top end of the bridge crossing over towards the prom. Cars coming from three directions. I still love Calis but I worry it's going to lose it's charm.
What are your thoughts?   ;)
