Remember that pig of of a conman who enticed people into the shop in Fethiye then demanded money from them ?what is his name. I saw him last week outside the mosque doing shoeshine. I was tempted to tell him where to shove his brush but I just growled instead.

I know who you are talking about there is a whole thread about this in the 'Good Bad Shop Guide' bit! There's also a picture of him! There's a few people on here who have been had by him, including myself

I honestly don't think this is such a great idea, forgive me if I am naive, but I have not seen a single scam reported here that has not been carried out elsewhere in the world and at at much greater rate, in fact when you look at the massive growth in both tourism & property purchase in Calis, there has been a tremendous opportunity to rip people off, yet still, this remains the exception and not the rule.

Like many, many others, we bought our property without the use of a solicitor and sent the whole purchase amount to an agent who at best came with a couple of recommendations, at worst was a complete stranger. Very few, in fact I think I have only heard of one person who lost their cash, and I have only their version of events.

I assume the "clever elaborate scams" that Kyra is looking to uncover are bit more than the "Hassle at small market" or "Is it getting expensive" topics we report on here.

So please, don't get seduced into the fact that this might be on TV or that "any publicity, is good publicity" It Isn't!

The last thing we want to portray is a feeling that Calis is riddled with "clever elaborate scams" that only happen here. If you want to find that sort of scam in large abundance, try Nigeria first.

GOYNUKLU GIDA - FETHIYE
TAUREAN PROPERTIES - CALIS

anyone who tries to hold a gun at my head???  then I suggest they keep looking over their shoulder because belive me I will do all within my power to bring them to book,..........and I mean it....to those of you who had no problems great you are the lucky ones

Hello everybody,
Just to say thanks for your contributions to this post. The programme hasn't been aired yet, in fact it hasn't been made yet! I am still researching Tango and his activities...so I would still like to talk to anyone who has any experiences of him. Just one note about Calis: the series is about tourist scams worldwide, not just in Turkey; in fact I myself am very fond of Turkey as I lived there for several years. We certainly don't mention specific towns, so Calis won't be blacklisted in any way whatsoever.
Thanks again,
Kyra
