I agree. I think it is disgusting that a Turkish company in Turkey (their country) would have the audacity to open a cement factory in an area where the English have invaded (oops, bought property).
Where the hell would you expect them to build it ? England !!!

Thanks for the support Stoop & Busybee it's much appreciated. We have contacted various sources as to the long term effect of the dust and the results are being looked at by the working party. White Lung disease can cause emphysema

Chris Tippett it's a case of you either want the cement factory or you don't? If you want it in Uzumlu then great, sit back, have a pop at people and do nothing, but if you do not want it in our valley then is it not better to support the ex pats and Turks who are trying to stop it?
Nobody is asking you to do anything apart from show your support (thank you for signing the petition by the way so I guess you support us) for those of us who are trying our best to stop this disaster happening here.
I am realistic and while there is any chance(and there is a chance) of stopping this Eric, myself and many others will try our best to do whatever it takes to stop it and work along with the Turks who are also trying to stop this.
While there is hope I will keep on and at least I can say I tried. I hope you will be good enough to say "well done" when we stop it going ahead then your property price will start going up along with everyone else's.
Positive support I need, negative (disguised as "realistic") support I do not.
Thanks
Fi

Crabbit what a suprise!
Prehaps if it was 10 mins from you, your opinion(caustic at best)would differ?
This is a Turkish village that I and others have chosen to live in and we have been asked (by Turks)to support and help them (the Turks that is!)get this stopped.
Where do we want it built? In an unpopulated area of which there are plenty in Turkey.
Thanks for your thoughts on this serious topic worth reading as normal!

We live in a village that is mainly Turkish, if they wanted to build any type of factory next door to me, then I would have no say or opposition to it,
Uzumlu was a little village once, until the Brits moved in, plus I think you`ll find our/your valley belongs to the Turkish Government and they can do what they please with it.

Perhaps you are unaware that even Turkey has a "due process" that it has to abide within.
Full public consultation must take place with ALL the populace of areas that are affected. This means everyone that lives there has a right within the law to have their say and raise objections to any planning process and the relevant authorities must listen to them and take them into consideration.
The Turkish Government do not own the Valley it is owned by private land owners, Turkish and expats. The Turkish Government own the forestry.

Ps Can you let me have the definition of "moderator" as your original post was designed to incite argument rather than be constructive or neutral

Crabbit,

You obviously have not read this thread from the beginning. It's not only the expats that want this stopped but many of the Turkish people who live in Uzumlu and the surrounding area. The protest has been organised by the locals and the expats have joined in.

Stoop is this the right attitude of a moderator?
His original post was inciting an argument where it is not required and he knew that was what he was doing as you can see from his last few words!

If this is allowed by a moderator then perhaps we need to look at another forum who will support their members cause not ridicule it.
