Hi, I'm new to this forum, though have been reading it for some time.  We have recently bought an apartment in Calis, but had to return to the UK at the beginning of November.  Wont be over for Christmas unfortunately, but hope to meet up with other members when we come back for two weeks at Easter.

Thanks for your warm welcome.  Our apartment is near the football ground/stadium near Gunlukbasi.  We love Turkey so much that we decided to sell our lovely home in the UK and downsize so that we could buy something in Turkey as well!  (Our house sale over here has been a nightmare, but its gone like a dream in Turkey!)  We came to Calis for the first time in the summer and by the end of the holiday, we had put a deposit down on the apartment! We came back at the end of October to buy furniture etc and hope to spend about 10 weeks a year in Calis.  This will increase in about four years time, when I can finally afford to give up work!!!  I don't mean to rush my life on - but I can't wait!  We love everything about Turkey, and have had no bad experiences (apart from a not-so-nice guy selling day trips in the summer!)

Hi Julie, Welcome to the CBF. I hope you find it as useful and entertaining as I have. Our apartment is about 100 mtrs from the football pitch but unfortunately I cannot see it from our back balcony. In October I watched Gunlukbasi get hammered, 5-1. Anyway enjoy the forum and enjoy your new place. Hope we might see you someday.
Best regards
Ken (& Sue):D:D

Hi Ken and Sue.  Thanks for your message.  Whilst we were over at the beginning of November, there was a match on at the grounds.  Unfortunately, it was the day we were going home and we were watching the match whilst waiting for our transfer lift to arrive.  At that point, Gunlukbasi were winning 4-1.  Can't remember who they were playing though!  (Think my husband will while away many a happy hour with a beer, or two, whilst watching the football.  Think I've just realised why he liked that particular apartment so much!!!)  Best wishes, Julie

Hello Julie, and welcome to the forum! I too have just purchased in Calis with my two sisters, a lovely apartment that has only just finished being built. I haven't seen it finished yet (my sisters visited without me recently), and the next chance us three can all go over is in Easter, so may see you around! Have you been on the boat trip with Turunc (sp?), because many people I've spoken to have, it seems very popular! He is such a kind and generous man, we became good friends with him whilst visiting over the summer, but I have spoken to him recently and he has been shaken up by a British couple who he invited for drinks at his house, the man apparantly got really drunk and wrecked some of his bathroom (I think it was). Such a shame, I'm sure you would have met him if you've been there a few times, everybody seems to know him! Anyway this is quite long now! You may see me or my sisters Emily and Lily at Easter!!
