Christie, why don't you message Nichola and let her know what was wrong - I'm sure she will welcome you letting her know.
I really am surprised at this - was it that it was not to your liking rather than a poor meal perhaps?
I'm sure you can tell from the hundreds of posts that dining here is invariably an excellent experience - such a shame it wasn't for you.

I must say I find it so wrong that anyone, who has a bad meal, in any restaurant, anywhere in the world, should not complain to the proprietors and give them a chance to rectify the situation for whatever reason. It does not mean you draw attention to yourselves if it is done quietly and politely and if you don't complain then the proprietors have no chance to rectify the situation. So rather than complain and get it sorted you choose to go on a public forum and state "it was the worst meal you had ever had in Turkey".
So so wrong when you could not be bothered to talk to Nicola or Dogan in person.

It was not that we could not be bothered to speak to the owners.  If and when, on the rare occasion, we feel the need to complain we would of course always do it quietly and politely, however as explained earlier the place was full and people would obviously have been aware that we were not happy.  We chose on this occasion to just leave it.  Surely, the idea of this forum is to put your own indivual comments - if we had complained to someone at the restaurant we would still not have enjoyed the meal.

I agree, it is. I have had a number of disappointing experiences (although not at Mozaik Bahce I must clearly say   ) and have let the establishment know, yet sometimes just paid and left because I can't be bothered or I just don't want to spoil the evening further. It is important that CBF isn't a place where people exclusively come to say nice things about nice things.

One thing is for sure - if you please 100% of the people 100% of the time, someone isn't telling the truth

I would be interested to know what it was you had, as it wasn't veggie, was the meat you had not good?  As you say it was the worst meal, but you don't say what it was or why it was so bad.
I am sure that Dogan would be terribly upset to know something was not right and would welcome the chance investigate the problem you had.

Thank you Christie for your feedback, as welcome as all the positive reviews we receive. Christie is not the first and no doubt will not be the last to have a different opinion about the meals that we serve but the important thing for us is the distinction between "good" vs "bad" and "like" vs "not to our taste".

One of the drawbacks of having consistently great reviews is that expectations rise and while one person may recommend a place saying that it was the best meal they have ever had another may find that the herbs and spices we use alien and unpalatable.

I am however confident that there was nothing wrong with our meat. We buy the best and most expensive cuts and everything is always fresh when cooked and served; turnover is also extremely high and no meats are around long enough to deteriorate and if they were they would be thrown away.

My worst meal ever was when I was little and my mum made me liver, brussel sprouts and spinach on my birthday: everything I hated most in the world.

I have been following this post avidly but have to say although we have never been to Turkey before Dizzie,Myself and the Wee Man still intend to visit Mozaik Bahce next weekend (subject to table availability of course). Im a great believer in If in doubt at least try it out. As mentioned above not everybodys taste buds are the same, but no doubt Dogan or Nichola may be on hand to offer advice if needed.

Exactly my point earlier -I hope it is clarified at there is such a difference between the two.
I also understand the reluctance to complain on the night as I often prefer to just walk away - definitely if  I just didn't like my meal (as it was my choice and just down to my taste) and certainly if everything was so poor that I had no intention of ever returning.  For the latter, it's like Scunner said, not worth spoiling the evening further.

Christie, I think it was the fact you considered it the worst ever meal that shocked everyone.  I've visited Turkey for holidays 8 times now and eaten out every night so probably around 100 different restaurants and Mozaik ranks in my top 3.  It would be hard to identify the worst as there are probably 20 restaurants deserving of that title - and all in Marmaris!
Of course you should be honest and you have as much right to disagree as others have to praise.....but I guess you expected it to be controversial based on how passionately a large number of people have praised Mozaik to date.

I think that the way people deal with having a bad meal/service is a very interesting one. I'm also keen that debating that doesn't detract this topic from what is (99%) an appreciation of the efforts of Nichola & Dogan. So, I will start a new topic in restaurants to discuss how we deal with a bad meal in general, and hope this one can return to discussing Mozaik Bahce.
