That is more likely, but where does it go overnight? Bearing in mind I don't wet the bed anymore :D

Fluid builds up during the day.

Here's some info I found
Adrenal Fatigue & Hypoglycemia Syndrome
Although caffeine is commonly used to assist weight loss, with frequent consumption, Haas explains that caffeine's effect of spiking cortisol and adrenaline secretion - hormones secreted by the adrenal glands - can result in adrenal fatigue and hypoglycemia, chronic syndromes in which the body eventually becomes unable to handle stress, resulting in exhaustion, thyroid problems and weight gain.
According to Haas, caffeine is also believed to play a role in the development of fibrocystic breast disease in some women, prostate enlargement in some men, and the incidence of certain cancers including bladder cancer, ovarian cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Caffeine addiction can be a problem, particularly with members of the nine-to-five workforce who use it to help them burn the candle at both ends. Although not as serious as some other drug addictions, withdrawal can be difficult.

Also
http://www.armpullers.com/nutirtion/water.htm

Drink more water.  I know someone who drunk a glass of water every time she had a coffee.
Just think in Turkey
They give water with their turkish coffee....

I only have one decent cup a day the rest is decaf.  Haven't lost much but have stopped putting weight on.  I wish I could remember to drink more water though.
Daughter was drinking a pint before a meal and lost a couple of stone.

Hmmm

Water, how exciting :-\

I can't see how drinking water helps but I can't argue if it does. I have suddenly seen that my weight has been creeping up almost unnoticed (by me) mainly due to giving up smoking which was around 8 months ago fully. I was also totally ignorant of what is best/better to eat when watching your weight. This is something I've never ever done and could eat a whole packet of chocolate hobnobs and not put on a gram  :) But now I can see an advert on the side of a bus for a crunchie and my weight increases :( I was going for a chocolate biscuit or 5 then doing the sensible thing and having a packet of crisps instead - sensible? I was shocked to death to read that 100g of wotsits is something like 26g fat!!! I would have thought maybe 4%! I realise I have a lot to learn.

Giving up caffeine as well as fags ain't going to happen :D but my doctor is happier that I am heavier and a non-smoker than a lower weight and on the Lambert & Butlers  :) I know I'd lose as much weight as I choose to if I went back on the ciggies, and knowing that really doesn't help either.

Try drinking a glass of water  before the coffee.  One  will cancel out the other.  No depravation ;)

I stopped smoking 15 years ago and have battled with my weight since.

I've never smoked, but have always had a weight problem.

Scunner, I think I have a similar problem to you though - my weigh in is in the evening.  If they changed the flipping class to first thing in the morning - I'd be at goal!  Easily a few pounds lighter in the morning!   :)

But

WHY :D

It surely isn't possible to lose quite a few pounds through one night because you move around while you sleep. Even if you are a big nasty person like me (and turner).
