I did not say let the tourists decide. I said can we be allowed to have an opinion?
The Turks must do want they want, and we must decide where we want to holiday and eventually where we want to retire.
And Scunner.
Of course the Turks want MacDonalds, we did in this country too years ago, when
we we naive enought to want to copy American culture.
On your premiss of us not having an opinion on whether the Turks have a McDonalds, then perhaps we should not interfere with the Turkish people who are installing a swimming pool for two helpless dolphins? So should the opinon of all those Brits like me who have
signed the petitions ... as you say..."Count for anything locally?"
If an American fast food place opened on the seafront, it would not be long before every other place was the same. The prom would be ruined, however, look on the bright side
you would get the business from people deciding to sell their holiday homes and look for somewhere less commercialised to spend their time.
