Just back from a week in Calis and paid two years council tax (956TL ouch!). Can anyone provide me with either a translation of the following lines which appear on my bill?

Vergi Ziyai Cez
Arsa Vergisi
Gecikme F
Kul. Var. Kor. Py.
Bina Vergisi
Gecikme Zammi

Thanks, SteveJ

Arsa Vergisi -Land Tax
Bina Vergisi -Building Tax
Gecikme F and Gecikme Zammi are some kind of penalty for late payment (I think)
I used Google Translator for this so its probably nothing like it!!:D

The Kul.Var.Kor.Py. is to pay for your dustbins to be emptied.

Ouch indeed Steve J. At those prices I couldn't afford to live in Calis.Does it include the Road Tax? I have just paid 78Tl(including 6 TL Cultural Tax)for our house this year

It didn't include Road Tax as I was told that I had nothing to pay this year.

It did include a 350TL for paying the last years tax late but it was still way over what I was expecting to pay. It made such a large hole in the spending money that we were sharing egg, chips and beans for the rest of the week :( I was shocked at the meal prices this year and how much they have increased since we were over in September 09.

We went to our local Chinese restaurant for the first time in 4 months. The banquet that we always have had gone up from 6.90 GBP to 8.50 GBP.Still good value for money, but an increase of  over 20%.

This seems rather a large fine.....normally only a lira or 2 per month fine for late payment (as far as I know)

Unless I'm reading my bill wrongly. The 350Tl appeared against the line which read "Vergi Ziyai Cez". Someone told me that this was the penalty for late payment.

Vergi Cezasi (i without the dot) is a tax penalty. 'Ziyai' I'm not sure what that translates to.
