When XL went bust the process was the same for my flights booked on Visa Debit as those booked on a credit card, but the debit to my account was £500+. Cant comment on entries under £100 ...that smacks as forward thinking on behalf of the airline as Visa will look to a company for re-imbursement after they've credited the customer

I'm not sure either about debit cards - probably be a good idea to speak to your bank Sue Mac.

With regard to the £100+ for claims, I've printed off my booking confirmation and subsequent itinerary which shows that all three flights were booked at the same time, even though they appear to have been charged separately. I'm hoping that's going to be enough proof that I booked all three together to make a claim.

That's good news Patch - fingers crossed for when we make our claim!!

This is sounding encouraging.....I will dig out all of my old statements next week and start the ball rolling to try and obtain refunds from Santander (Abbey) which  know will be a hard slog! I worked for Abbey for 20 years until July 08, and getting anything from them is like trying to get blood from a stone, with the most frustrating phonecalls along the way.!!!! So anybody having any joy with Abbey,Santander, please let me know!!!

That's good news, Patch.   What evidence did you have to supply to Barclaycard please?

Hi Sue,I have just been repaid via Barclaycard for my return flight on 2nd july that never arrived at Dalaman.
Have just put in a claim to my HSBC debit card for flights in September under the little known scheme "visa debit chargeback" which has been around since 2008.
If you google the above it gives you all the info you need.
Hsbc sent me the claim forms within 4 days of me contacting them.
My contract was with KTHY and no other company. Not Atlas or anyone else that may try to take over KTHY .
Any bank debit card with the Visa logo is covered.
Unlike credit card claims that only cover amounts over £100 this covers any amount for goods or services not delivered.

Andy, thats really good news.  Many thanks. I had flights booked for this Saturday, returning Aug 28th, and single flights for October 23rd. I had basically assumed I had lost all of my money...now I have hope. I shall go into the website asap and try and sort it before I fly out this Thursday. Thanks again.

follow the link here for more info on how to get your money back if you paid by Visa Debit Card but basically it says

The majority of us are now aware of the benefits of using our credit cards in terms of the protection it offers us in the event the supplier is unable to offer the goods and services we have paid for.

But did you know that you can also claim the money back if you have paid on your Visa Debit card? And unlike your credit card, which imposes a minimum spend of £100, you can claim back any amount of money.

The process is called Visa Debit Chargeback, and, as the name suggests, is a procedure in which the banks will ‘charge back' the value of the original transaction directly from the supplier's bank, and pass this amount on to you.

All banks who issue Visa cards have only recently agreed to process chargeback requests, and there is still widespread confusion over what it is and how it works. Therefore if you meet a dead end in your discussions with bank staff, persist. The facility is there for you to take advantage of.

Invoking the chargeback procedure

If you suspect your card has been used fraudulently, if the goods and services you bought with your card are faulty or if they do not materialise, then you should contact the bank who has provided you with your Visa debit card within 120 days, requesting they initiate the chargeback process. It does not mean you will automatically and immediately get your money back. It will initially become a ‘dispute' in which the claim will be fully investigated by both banks before any money is returned.

Addendum: This Visa Chargeback Scheme also applies to Visa Credit Cards

We have now rebooked for September with Easyjet - I phoned our CC company up today, they confirmed they have received my claim, but they are working on a date system and they are only up to 6th July, so it might be a long wait.  Hopefully AtlasJet will not start flights to Dalaman, in which case, we should get our money back.
