Bostans - Probably the Worst Coffee in the World
« Reply #40 on: July 23, 2010, 10:31:47 AM »
The title was not to slaughter anyone, it was a play on Carlsberg words so intended as slightly Tongue in cheek for those who choose to see it rather than decide to take it literally. After the years and cash I have put into this site promoting the area and the number of free plugs restaurants have had on CBF I am not  going to lose any sleep over telling the truth about my experience there. I chose not to complain at the time and that is my decision and my decision alone.

I think the reason I got a horrible instant coffee and not one from their fancy Italian machine is because the barman simply couldn't be bothered, and the reason I got carton orange juice rather than fresh was because the barman simply couldn't be bothered. It doesn't matter how many times the restaurant and it's usual suspect fans come here to protest, they can't possibly expect to be seen as the victim here.

Now, if you'll move on and stop taking my review as an attack we can put this 5 lira story to bed.

oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to decieve. If you cant stand the heat Scunner stay out of the kitchen. You began the diatribe against Bostans and now want to put the matter to bed as you are being questioned on it-shame on you!!!!!I personally found your remarks slanderous especially the 'Bought in Bim' statement.I know for a fact the only Nescafe Gold Blend is served as instant coffee at Bostans. As for the scurulous remark about getting the Italian Coffee Maker machine out of the box!!!!!!Well that doesnt even merit a reply.
Seems there is one rule for Forum members and one for you.

Your post merits a reply Grizabella. After the thousands of posts on the forum covering everything from tragic deaths to bears on the beach, your motivation for joining and posting is that Scunner is served a crap cup of coffee because the waiter could not be arsed to use the proper machine.

Give me a break ! I was going to collate all of the posts on here that are nothing more than free adverts promoting Bostans, loads when you were involved there Sandgrounder, but you know, I can't be arsed either.

Move on people, it was a cup of coffee and if the over reaction on here is anything to go by, the takings at Bostans must have gone through the roof just for the sympathy vote alone.

I had a bottle of water in Bostons once, hated it.

I don't want to put the subject to bed, I assumed they did! I am not deceiving anyone thank you and there is one rule for all - make your comments factual and don't hide your identity. I have given my honest opinion and if people want to question it I'll be here for years to explain my post if that's necessary to show I don't  have any personal desire to close this topic.

If any other member had posted it, it would have stayed. I do suspect that the huge interest in it is because it was written by me.

So, no deception, no "diatribe", no hidden agenda, just an honest opinion which didn't go down well with some fans. Just like the...

I told nick I was enjoying this thread. He said he'd have a read. Nxt thing I heard him laughing loudly. Absolutely hilarious. Obviously Scunners view counts more than you would have us believe. Move on people.

One day I dream of a response that goes something along the lines of

" We are disapponted that you didn't enjy your coffee. We have invested in a great coffee machine and the staff are trained on how to use it, we have held a staff meeting and the situation discussed . We hope you will visit us again so that we can show that we are serious about what we do......." and then I woke up.:D

OMG!!!  It was a comment about a cup of coffee and an oj!!
For me it was just a post that is similar to numerous put out on this forum about something that they thought was below the standards of that particular establishment! - This just said to me 'My cup of coffee was C**p and so was the OJ!'  So what!!  Would it stop me going there if I wanted - NO!
I fortunately have better things to think about than 2 drinks!!!
 ;) ;)

Probably spot on GB.
Its a shame Scunner is not able give an honest review without the antagonists jumping on the band wagon.

the next post will be, "well I went in and the coffee was good", agree with GB;s post, and the defence panel have done Bostans no favours here,
it was an honest comment with no hidden agenda,  if it was I went on a camel ride and ended up with a spotty ars-, would people take the HUMP then, ........ doubt it.
