I have had two seperate people tell me that on returning home from Calis they have had their hand luggage searched, something they say has'nt happened before at Dalaman. They both said that a lot of other travellers had hand luggage searched as well. One had her perfume taken. They were very angry as the perfume was expensive and had been used by her on her holiday.Has anyone else had this experience this year? Maybe they are tightening up security so we will have to be careful what we put in our hand luggage.

Was the perfume in a clear, resealable plastic bag as per the rules?

Yes I had mine searched and was questioned about several items, my camera case they wanted to know what was inside it, some pills I had just herbal in a jar they looked at those and wanted to know if I had an umbrella in there which I did not have and would have thought they would have known I did not as my bag had just been scanned! Then my passport details were entered into their book.Did not have anything confiscated though but did not have any liquid items on me.

There are security checks for liquids and the rules are the same as UK.
They check some hand luggage just as they do in UK.
They take passport numbers of those checked and had been doing this even before the increased security checks..... I think this is just record keeping, but I am not certain.

She said it was in the box it came with Colwyn.Yes I know about the plastic bags etc but I thought they had eased up on the security checks.I dont think they had any problems at Gatwick just Dalaman and only this year.

We had major problems at Manchester the other week with lipstick (not mine) and other small items of make up. Lots of people were caught out. My wife had to purchase 2 bags for a quid (when we only needed one) or leave the stuff behind.

If anything they are tightening up not easing up at the moment.

A quid or your ar2e blown to bits? No brainer really.

It makes sense just to pack all your make up/perfume etc into your suitcase.  I always do (though I do keep one lippie out for a quick touch up - us girls have to try and look glam even when flying!   :) )
