Sorry to hear the bas*ards have been active again, these crimes really do have a terrible effect on quite a number of people, not only the poor sods who are the victims but also the property owners and in our case, other members of our friends and family who are due to visit. You have to tell people what has gone on and then they become nervous rather than simply relaxing and looking forward to a hard earned break, in fact people due in to our place today are considering not staying in the house and going straight into a hotel worried that someone is watching the place for new visitors and will strike again the first time they go out, it might sound irrational to some of you, but unfortunately, I can't tell them that their fears will not materialise.
I guess we have to put this into perspective, Calis now has thousands of properties and these problems are a tiny proportion of the total where your chances of being burgled are in fact very small, the impact however is massive.
I agree with Mark, and think all we can do is try and stay one step ahead, so let's start a list of what you need to do to beat these people:
Have good locks on all of the doors and windows
Fit good quality bars and gates over each window and door
Install a safe get it bolted to the floor and the wall
If your property is suitable, consider fitting wall or floor safes which can be hidden
Buy some of the very inventive products available on eBay in which to hide money and documents
Take Marks advice and fit an alarm
Use an ultra violet security marker (it won't stop anything being stolen but might help identify the thieves if goods are recovered)
Fit a security camera
Please fell free to add to the list (serious suggestions only please)
