name and shame the low lifes,as I bet it's some of the expats who have got nothing better to do with their time than knock people who are trying to live a life in the sun and putting back or helping other's in some way.I only hope those who start and those who carry these rumour / lies feel ashamed.

They don't.

Someone (a pony tailed sponger, notorious in Calis as a gossip and whole life non-achiever) told a friend of mine that I had been banned deported, banned from Turkey for life and he had personally seen the official papers from Ankara. None of that is in any way true as I have proved by returning to Turkey many times since we decided to move back to the UK.

When I confronted Glenn Mayes and asked him why he was spreading these lies about me he totally denied every last bit of it. BUT HE TOLD MY FRIEND IT ALL FACE TO FACE!!!

What to do...just carry on I suppose. People will tell you to ignore it, that people know you and won't believe it and no, sadly it doesn't always help.

Sorry got carrried away ranting as I am so angry that this has all started again this year. The people I was talking about started the rumour last year but no doubt involved in this years as they dont have too many active brain cells. I know they have never supported any of the events put on in aid of the carnival and were very quick to knock last years efforts. Until you are involved with helping to organise this worthwhile cause people have absolutely no idea of what it entails. The committee are a wonderful group who work really hard to help the less fortunate. Long may it continue and the very sad rumour mongers find it in their hearts to stop doubting the sincerity of others.

Similar happened to a friend of mine she was so distressed she gave fig up.
Some people are very quick to pass on spiteful gossip, but, luckily most of us have the sense to not listen or pass it on.  I think everyone to do with the carnival is amazing and do a brilliant job.

Do they have slander laws in Turkey. Would the threat of court action silence these awful people.

If I heard first hand such a rumour and I don't care who said it. I would post their name immediately on this Forum and yes it would be in capital letters  Very large ones! Just remember a human sh*t is usually very small in the overall scale of things.

Chrissie, The members of the Forum know what a good job the Calis Carnival Committee do.
Forget about the trash who have nothing better to do than gossip. They lead very sad lives.
They should be pitied, they will never have the admiration and support that you and the other volunteers have earned.

I don't waste time pitying people, they don't see they need pity, they are the ones who think they have the life people envy! Sad, empty lives talking about whoever just got up to go to the toilet. What is important is that people start to report who told them what, as Brian/Tribalelder says. If everyone does that, at least people like Pete & Chrissie will know who they are being attacked by.

Sadly I understand the enthusiasm and drive of one committee member has been lost already over this. We must open up and speak out about those who whisper in dark corners. Because we don't is the ONLY way they get away with their poison - and if one kid misses out on one swing or computer or tent or whatever it may be, it might just be because the person who could have delivered it quit the committee over these lies - and that is a major, major tragedy.

This is obviously all very sad and deeply upsetting for those involved.

But I would believe that it may be difficult for individuals to put their name to a name and shame campaign as they have to continue to live in Calis

So I thought that I would suggest the following:

1. That a username of Whistleblower be set up.

2. Those who wish to name and shame an individual (given substantive proof of their guilt of course) could then email that name to a general cbf email address (info@cbf.co.uk or whatever) and it could subsequently be published "by" whilstlerblower. This hopefully would allow anonymity and allow the cbf administration team to say that they were only publishing information received.

All of the above would have to have the approval of Keith and his team.

Then, I thought "what would be the point". Even if those who are alleged to have committed the slander read the forum, would being named and shamed make any difference to them. Would it make them come forward to defend themselves and refute the allegations.

The whole business is fraught with danger. How, for example, would the mod team verify the authenticity of what they were sent.

Apologies for this being more than a bit of a ramble:(
