hi grizabella,we know what your saying,but..there is a problem with private vets in and around calis/fethiye..as they see us taking their business away from them,so we have to be careful that its stray cats and dogs only that get neutered/spayed at the centre
There is one operating room at the centre, they used to have a fully kitted out mobile operating theater, but costs were too high,as Andy said before,we will help in anyway possible to transport cats/dogs,catch them, provide our own carriers etc...or phone the centre direct, english speaking vet there most afternoons.6135825,thankyou for your ideas, anyway

Andy - there are mobile units which go round. As you say the vets dont always like it and it depends if the local Belediye will allow the unit in. Here in Dalyan they were refused despite only asking for their nights accomodation to be provided in return for their services. Needless to say there were plenty of Brits who would gladly have put them up.......
might it be worth speaking to the local Belediyes to see if such a unit could be allowed in?

Thanks Terrie and Tinks I didnt realise the politics or cost of setting up a mobile unit. Why is life made so difficult by people who just want to make an easy buck out of a charity. It's all wrong. Will get 'my lot' up there by hook or by crook.

Hi Terrie, Have a lovely little black kitten (but with broken tail) who has sorted decided he wants to live with us.   However, we already have two cats who have adopted us, and we have to kennel them for two months each year when we leave Turkey which costs a bit, and we cannot really afford any more!   We feed this kitten scraps by the local bin, hopefully to not encourage him to think he belongs to us, but feel he or she needs to be neutered before we go abroad after Xmas when our two go into kennels.  Have heard you will not 'do' Uzumlu kitten  - is this so - as we have fundraised for Sanctuary for past year or so!   Do not like to see this baby abandoned ... he or she is fairly fit and very friendly and we would be happy to bring it down to be neutered and bring back to be a bincat ...as we are deliberately not making it too dependent on us!     Can you  help?   Liz

it is true, officially the shelter does not cover Uzumlu as it comes under Kemer, but we will do everthing to help and we can get round it and we know how hard you all work up there in fundraising for us so no problems on that score.
The kitten can be taken there for neutering when ready, any problems let us know.

Thankyou so much Simon for helping me out when I found a very sick kitten in Fethiye on Monday.Unfortunately the wee mite didnt make it but at least it had some loving before it died and didnt die alone and wet on a busy street. Two of my street cats are being neutered tomorrow thanks to the sanctuary. They will be returned to me after their op as they are a couple of very friendly females that everyone in the vicinity is very fond off.Unfortunately one of them has already had two litters of kittens but at least now they will be 'kitten free'.Thanks once again Simon and everyone else up at the sanctuary for all the selfless work that you do.

Thanks Tinkerman ....  Hopefully the kitten will be old enough to neuter before we go to uk on the 27th December ... it is probably about six or seven weeks old now!    Dont like to think of it producing more kittens to be abandoned.   It's healthy and am feeding it daily by local bin - hopefully it will be more independent by the time we go to uk!
