The Russian mafia will have "arranged" this in advance - I wonder why Mr Putin didn't need to go???

The English bid got 2 votes in spite of it having been acknowledged to be the best: technical and infrastructure bid - a nonsense.

The Qatar result was even worse - no infrastructure "but we have lots of money and we believe you like money"

On the positive side (and we must accept that it's gone), I have to say well done on a great bid on behalf of us. Beckham was surprisingly immense, and William too. Our facilities, passion, history and infrastructure was and is the best of the choices available, if you can't win based on those, you can never win.

Proud of England.

Agree with comments about the "trilogy" and yes of them all Beckham - immense is fitting - you can see him having a very good career after football.

Not like the shy lad that couldn't talk on camera very well - 17 years ago - well done Fergie  ;)

if there is something you passionately want in life,as do others, it doesn't matter how passionate or deserving your plea is, it will go to the highest bidder and we were outbid.
Well done to all who took us forward, you did a brilliant job but were let down by buffooons in the kleptocracy we live in.
