Does anyone know if you are allowed to pack chinese lanterns in your hold luggage with Thomas Cook? We're flying over on Thursday and want to take some with us for a friend. Thanks in advance.

As long as they're not alight, I don't think it'll be a problem.

I know of people who have brought them over quite recently in their hold luggage

They are available in Turkey, we once went to a wedding in Calis and in the evening we all went to the prom and let them off.

I don't think the local Forestry folks would be too happy with these.

have to agree with Scorcher  -  the hills are like tinderboxes in the summer and I really don't think you'd be too popular if they were blown back in land.......just something to think about.

Don't you think a forest fire is far more likely to be started by a discarded tab end in Turkey - rather than a Chinese lantern!

I have bought lanterns for my birthday celebrations but they are not flying ones they are square in shape and hold a tea light and you let them float out to sea :D really cheap too a pound each at the pound shop:D
