Just always have. If I go out it's there but I am very good at moving it when I think I need to. In town, for example or in a strange pub. I see myself as pretty security conscious and up to date it's worked out OK.

I don't remember "which pocket do you keep your wallet in?" following the question "which area of the country do you live?" in our recent census.
Granted it may have been a better question than some that were asked.

For the record I (a Northerner)use back pocket for wallet mainly at work. When out and about I try not to take wallet, I see people in the local pub getting a wallet out with loads of bank cards etc and can not understand why they need to take it all with them when cash in the front pocket is sufficient.

Well this is my hypothesis - is putting your wallet in your back pocket a Northern thing?

I don't recall seeing it much daan saarf where I grew up...

I`m a Northerner but have lived over half my life with tight fisted southerners   My wallet is in the front pocket!

i have warned my hubbie about putting his wallet in his back pocket and he always says, i can feel it if anyone removes it

Maybe it is a northern thing but I too ,without thinking always have mine in the back pocket but like stoop when in crowded areas i.e Football/Rugby Matches, Markets etc it goes in the front.

I really do find this absolutely amazing - you (and others of course!) keep your wallet that contains your money, credit cards etc in a place you know and admit isn't safe enough for markets and the like. To me it's like keeping all your money in a bucket in the front garden, except when people with blue & white hoopy jumpers, masks and bags marked 'swag' are about. To met really is an incredibly strange thing to do.
