I imagine not, Des. Some people would go to a bar to drink half-price beer during the early evening Happy Hour and then shout "Rip Off" if they are charged twice this price at 10pm at night.

Well you only have to look nearer to home to see what happens when they raise the prices, our local pub is £1.80 for a pint of lager and £2.60 for a small bottle of wine, and thats with the price rise, we have been charged so many different prices in Calis/Fethiye, some ridiculous, but if we are in nice company we go with the flow,at the time, but would not rush back in there, Calis is not an upper class resort though, and on the other hand I would rather pay top bat than drink Tuborg,  ;)

6 lira is ridiculous, our local shop sells large effes for 3.25 and he makes a profit at that price. I am not suggesting that the bars should sell at 3.25 but like Colwyn I also have a grasp of basic economics and 100% margin is unsustainable in the long term.

You can't really compare a shop price to a bar. The bar owner has more overheads than say a shop with just the owner running it, lighting, heating, staff to serve you and clean, etc etc, so they are certainly not making 100% profit.
While I agree 6 lira is too much, the cartell situation has arisen for several years now and has never once lasted. I predict the average price on the front will be around 5 lira this season.... ;)

The problem is people will pay it. In Istanbul we saw places charging 9 tl and people are drinking it.
I wouldn't pay 6 and would tell them so and choose some thing else.

I did however pay 10tl for a caramel frappacino in Starbucks yesterday and damn delicious it was too !
