Well we went and stayed at Olive Garden and would sum up my review in two words " Unfulfilled Potential "
The setting is undeniably beautiful, the pool is OK but not brilliant and we found it hard to find shade, they have several Turkish style kabananas, ( not sure of the correct word) but all of these were occupied, unfortunately many by people who had left towels, books etc. and then gone off to the beach. There are no sun beds and you have to search for an umberella which were hidden away behind the cabins.
The rate we were offered was dinner, bed and breakfast, dinner was mushroom soup which was delicious, then stuffed vine leaves, just OK and main was a vegetable casserole, a bit like chunky veg soup, again, not great. After hearing about the cooking skills of the owner/ chef, we were left a little underwhelmed and even the main menu was limited to say the least.
Not much that the Garden could do about the lack of electric when we visited, but it was off for a large part of our stay, however we couldn't understand the absence of hot water in the shower at anytime during our stay.
The cabins ( we called them a bed in a shed ) do not have A.C. The owner told us that the electrician would fit a ceiling fan and sure enough at about 5 pm the spark arrived and fitted brand new fans to most of the cabins, these were the sort that revolve 360 degrees, the problem was that 90 degrees of this rotation was as loud as a motorbike, I suffered this until 3 am and set off to the pool hoping to get some quiet in a kabananas, this plan failed when snoring from one of the staff was heard from the cushions next door.
We would definitely return to the Olive Garden for a snack and drink, as said earlier, the setting is wonderful. We drove down to Dalyan and stayed in one of the nicest places we have ever been. Will post a review about the BC Spa at Dalyan soon and the amazing jacuzzi suite we enjoyed for 2 days there.
