While we were living there we had them at least once a week & never had a single problem with them being iffy  ;D- I miss them soooo much, I wish they made them in UK :'(

They are sold with boiled rice inside, ( don't quite know how they manage that) lol, but are scrummy !!  :P

Yes, it's a very ancient art. The Mussel Wranglers have to teach the mussels not to eat the rice while they're being boiled.

aahh  abit like the mechanic ewho told me the trouble with my car was "you got s**t in the carburettor to which I repleid, "How often I got to do that then?"

Seriously Jacqui they are  avery famous Turkish delicacy and have been for centuries, delicious, they sell them on the streets in Istanbul, partuclarly around the Galata bridge area. I guess in the Calis area not too much pollution as Mussels like Oysters are wonderful at absorbing pollutants like heavy metals so you have to be careful around areas with polluted water, which is why I didnt eat them in Istanbul with half the Black Sea states pollution pouring out through the Bosphorous!   :)

The hot weather and sea food in a basket has Always put me off been worried  of getting food poisoning I suppose

They are beautiful   they have rice and chilly powder in well worth having never had any problems with them   :)
