Heather, they are cooked. I wouldn't buy from anyone other than the guy at the bridge in Calis.  :P

just to clarify.....
i love mussels back in the UK but there's more than one person selling them in the late evening/night at Calis. Who should I trust to have a late-night treat(mussels only please) before shuffling back to our hotel?

I'm 100% with Gordy - the man who stands at the end of the bridge (non-sea end) around where the water taxis are. Never tried anyone else, doubt I ever will  :)
