Those were the days when all these BIG bands and stars were playing at local dance venues! We never knew we had it so good.

Odd one for me, Boomtown Rats at Glasgow Apollo in October 1979. I bloody loved it!

I got a bit of a bug for live music though, that was followed by The Police, Queen and Blondie all in December 1979 at the same venue.
The good thing in these days is that all the big groups played in places like the Apollo, before they were replaced by the aircraft hanger type echoey arenas, and stadiums.

I remember seeing the Rolling Stones at Wembley, I might as well have been watching a video on the telly

mine was in 1973 Emerson, lake and Palmer at the empire in Liverpool. the start was delayed for an hour, because the stage had collapsed because of the weight of the drum kit

They were indeed Mrs Bouquet!  All seats removed downstairs for the 'headbangers' although just about everyone in the balconies were dancing about anyway!  Great night

Status Quo at the Apollo in Glasgow.

Newest band I saw was Slik at Salutation hotel in Perth.  They stood out as something special and the lead singer, Mudge Ure,  went on to front Ultravox.

Sounds like you saw all the tours that came round to these parts too.  As well as the Beatles and Stones I can remember seeing the Kinks, Swinging Blue Jeans, Searchers, Hollies,. Cilla Black, Dave Berry, all in their early days,  and those are just the ones I can remember!!  All at the ABC cinema (now a Sainsbury's supermarket  :()

I loved Slik, I heard their hit song on the radio recently, took me right back, but then I still know all the words to my beloved Osmonds and Bay City Rollers songs, those were the days (My friend)!!!
