Well said Stoop and Loz, of course she isn't having a State funeral, she wasn't royalty but she's having a Ceremonial funeral like Diana, which she deserves.

As H has realized many people on this topic are being very restrained in their wish to comment and the language in which they do comment if they choose to do so. This becomes difficult when some extremists demand "respect" be shown for their idol. Respect would be inappropriate.

The words of bette Davis when she learned of the death of Joan Crawford:
"You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good . . . Joan Crawford is dead. Good!"

If that is referring to me Colwyn, I'd just like to inform you that I'm not an extremist nor was Margaret Thatcher my idol. I'm asking for a bit of decent respect for someone who has only just passed away this morning. It could be anybody from someone in my family to a homeless person living rough. We all deserve the same.

Love her or hate her she will take her place in History as the first British Woman Prime Minister and one that was as tough and maybe tougher than any man.  I did not agree with all the things she did, but I had to admire some of her strong decisions.   Just like Winston Churchill who was once hated for turning the troops on the Miners and who was voted out after the War, one day in years to come she will be looked up to by future generations as a great Woman and a great leader.
I too am shocked at the comments about her on Facebook which totally took me by surprise.

I think it quite sad when people are not respected for who they were as opposed to what they did. I garee with stoop, in current times you do not have to have liked someone to show respect, something which is spread very thinly in UK nowadays across all ages.

And finally, for those who mentioned miners I thought she was one   ;)

From a BBC reporter:

'Her bold free market reforms and curbs on union power - that caused so much controversy in the 1980s - are now accepted as conventional wisdom by all mainstream British political parties. '

Jacqui is right, you had to admire her strength and staggering tenacity in striving to do the best for our country. Her great leadership is more likely to be recognised historically.

Posted merely as an example

Example maybe, but bad taste John.

Oh good grief Des - that was the point of my post - to illustrate to those not on face book what's being posted on there.

Some of the comments on there are totally sickening
