Don't worry he has broad shoulders and just loves to get a reaction.  .

Oh and before any one tells me again what a great job she done winning back the Falklands, just remember which Goverment lost them.... Particularly to a very nasty military junta, that up to a few weeks before the falklands was invaded, had been buying arms from the thatchers Britain!

Who allegedly still owe the UK around £45m for the above.

If one was to use the fact that the leader of any country was/is considered a great Statesman/women, in order to tear ones hair out, & wear sackcloth & ashes on the death of such a person, surely the demise of Adolf Hitler should be, or should have been, a cause for sadness worldwide, if not, the premise that Thatcher will be lauded in the future as one of the world's greatest political leaders, is a total farce !!!!
I wondered when you would appear on this topic Gordon. a friend of mine on CBF  who happens to be a labour supporter described you as the most obnoxious person he has met, I think he was been rather kind.

Totally uncalled for Des.  Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I don't see why Gordon should be singled out for such a personal attack.

She done it every time with a minority (circa 40%) of the uk vote, she knew she only had to appeal to a few thousand voters in the marginal constituencies, invariably in the south, and she would win.   and could then ignore both nations and regions that did not support her, or in the case of Scotland use them as guinea pigs for her unpopular policies like the poll tax

No tears from me either.  She took the Great out of Britain, killed our industry and manufacturing - why would anyone revere her?

Great and fair post Sandgrounder, my father and all my male ancestors were miners, I also worked for a current Conservative MP and yes we really could do with her now, not the dithering lot we have in all of today's parties.

How does that compare with Blair's three victories ?

Thatcher wins '79 = 43.9%; '83 = 42.4%; 87 =42.3%

Blair wins '97 = 43.2%; '01 = 40.7% '05 = 35.2%
