Brilliant Colwyn.  Fully agree.  I come from an area of the country that can safely be called a Tory stronghold and in the 80s, when I was a teenager, I used to go on marches and do my bit to protest what I saw happening.  I was a pretty lone voice in my area at the time and was probably stronger and braver than I am now but I'm proud and glad I did it.  I've just been told on Facebook by a friend that perhaps I should have protested at the time rather than now and I was able to say "I did."  I don't now want to be told by the media and a lot of other people that I should suddenly pretend to like her or respect what she did.  I don't and I don't.  I bought that song and I'm proud of it.

A bad call by the BBC, typical fence-sitting,playing 5 seconds is laughable.I really hope the funeral is not disrupted because of the way it would reflect on the UK's reputation but the millions of people that were hurt and badly affected by her actions should be allowed express their revulsion of her in a public way.The BBC's decision is an attempt to stifle that expression.    :( :(

Ha ha. - it seems the real winners here - Time Warner are considering requests to put all the profits from the song towards a memorial for Mrs T.

That would be rather ironic.

Yes, Stoop heard that this morning on Sky News.   So, the more people that buy it the better as they will be paying for a memorial... Really funny...

Well, now that the opposing sides have chosen what they will be singing next Wednesday we can concentrate on other important matters. It is a longstanding British tradition that, when someone in the public eye dies, this is quickly greeted by flurry of what are called "sick jokes". Recently people have been telling me that when any human being dies, whatever you think of them, they are deserving of respect and their passing should be observed in good taste taking into account the feelings of the bereaved family. So I looked back at what CBF members had to say about the death of Osama bin Laden. Guess what? Very little sign of respect and no concern at all for the feelings of his family. (Of course, it might be excused that Mr Laden was not a "human being". But this would be a cheap and silly wisecrack and I eshew it). What the thread did have though was an almost instant stream of sick jokes. Now I don't tell sick jokes; in fact I don't tell jokes at all. But there have to some who do. What has happened to them? Surely the hatred of Thatcher hasn't quieted the jocular side? Now that would really be disgraceful.

I have to admit I haven't seen any yet Colwyn. Maybe I mix with nice people on the forums and on my FB account? Or maybe they are scared of a backlash?

I did expect more from the funny people but maybe they are too busy celebrating to write jokes?

I confess to hearing a few, I am one of the sicko's who find jokes funny whatever the subject matter, be it Maggie T, Jimmy S etc. I choose not to post on the forum because they are not to all tastes and I understand that. Mrs B finds them disrespectful and often wonders why I am chuckling to myself when I am reading such texts from my like minded pals.
