Mmmnnn all this talk of bread! I love the bread here in Turkey, but I try not to buy it too often, carbs and all that! I buy a sliced loaf in Kipa with nuts and seeds in and pay 4.95tl, shock horror, but it does freeze well and I only defrost a couple of slices when required.

So here's the power of shopping around. My favourite loaf at the bakery near to Zayra 2 which has just increased (again) in price to 2.5 lira weighed 380 grams. I've just bought a very similar loaf in the bakery next door to A101 in Gunlukbasi, this loaf weighs 540 grams and cost ........... 1.5 lira !

No prizes for guessing where my money will be spent in future.

Walked there and back this evening - 37 mins inc a pleasant chat with Lokman the Plumber in the shop! (looks like tradesmen go there as well - always a good sign) :-)
Did "a George" and weighed it on return - big round loaf- sliced 550 gms and I reckon the walk means i can have 2 extra slices :-)
