There are lots of ducks and different bird species that use the reeds as their habitat, this little kingfisher for example who was there a couple of weeks ago.

Yes I follow you there George, but no reeds up this end, just the bamboo the farmers used to use and that will be a loss to them, I love to see the kingfishers , ducks etc, but I always found them to be further down, especially when you take the water dolmus to Fethiye, but I do get your point.

Lovely to see the kingfisher is not put off by the work, the first time I was privileged to see one was on the water taxi from Calis to Fethiye, hope and pray that they are still hanging around, hold on till May please.

Great photos Des, and thanks for the updates so far.

And I agree with you that this modernisation work can only be to the advantage of the kanal area.

Please feel free to keep the updates coming on a regular basis.  ;-)

Perhaps the key point is will this work be completed by the time the rain really starts, both locally and further upstream?  Or will it be another job that drags in to the next year, and more importantly delivers the return of full road and utility services, and a clean area...... I am not holding my breath that it will really be completed anytime soon.
