Looking at the canal walls and the lack of edge protection I wonder how long it will be until someone runs a car of the edge

Took these piccies earlier from the wooden bridge by Water Taxis.  The pictures are looking back upstream towards the main road bridges.  It looks like they are building some sort of a quay for boats to moor at, either that or they are putting a new by-pass/underpass around the town!!!

Well what looked like a potential quay for boats or an underpass/by pass last week looks like it is there as foundations for the canal stone bank.  This set of foundations is now right round the bend of the canal back to the main road bridge.  Although there looks like there could be a path between the two stone 'walls', which could combine to still be a quay... watch this space.

There is also a lot of work being done on the land behind B52s, next to th hotel (Golden Moon??), not sure if this is being used as a store for the canal work or what, but there is a big space cleared now.

We stood on the bridge for a while yesterday watching them building these walls, and one of the workers there said the gap between the low front wall and the high back wall would have earth and plants in it, and that there would eventually be a running track similar to the Fethiye prom road on the road by B52 going past the Golden Moon hotel.

Like everything else though, only time will tell how correct this turns out to be.

I hope you are wrong Mark. much better (at least for me) to leave it as a path. My place is near to the river/canal and it will be a much more pleasant stroll up to the promenade in the evening than going via BMB.
