Please Rimms, could you let us have the results of the Meeting?  It would be very interesting to see the answers to these questions.

Hi Rimms,

we wont be there, but if possible would be interested to hear what's happening with the beach road from Seaside to the Surf Club.

Last year I heard he planned to close at least part of it (in front of the Jiva Hotel & Sunset Beach)  to traffic following the tragic accident with the young lad.

Thanks

Ian

Slightly off topic but is Koca Calis now under Fethiye? I know it was supposed to all change sometime soon. Does this mean he will be our Mayor as well or will we still have the Ciftlik one?

From begining of April, Fethiye takes over the running of Ciftlik, so Fethiye's mayor will become yours too

I'll be there and I would like to know if he can see his way to build on the excellent recycling efforts in the last couple of years around Fethiye streets to the coast line and other beauty spots popular with picnickers.

Specifically would he be prepared to organize and promote a public campaign aimed at children, young people and adults on the importance of looking after and protecting our environment which could include workshops in schools and colleges, billboard advertising and public notices along the coastline and picnic sites on the importance of and reasons why we should take our rubbish home or put it in a bin provided for that purpose.

Also to take preventive steps and prohibitive measures e.g. hefty fines to stop the dumping of building materials and other unwanted household rubbish in the countryside.

I don't know if there is a proper dump in Fethiye but if there isn't maybe there should be and perhaps the council could set up a service that local people could contact to take away said rubble/rubbish to help minimize dumping.

Also local businesses are required to separate their rubbish for recycling. Are there plans to extend this to households in the area?

Yes I have just left thread after leaving a post, and was coming back to this thread to draw others attention this invite.  Will there be others, such as the CHP?  BTW the gift of foresight can sometimes be a burden on such young shoulders as mine!

I would like to come and my questıon would be are there any Road Improvements and Hotels planned for the beach area from Sunset to Mekans Restaurant in Koca Calıs area when Fethiye takes us over. The new roads put through the area last year are rubbish and do nothing to improve the area its just a mess.

George 80% of the vote.... Really!

Where did your friend get this information from? Perhaps he is a well known political analyst who has surveyed all the areas of the new Mayorailty.  Sort of a Turkish Peter Snow, who has all the facts on all the parties and their candidates at his fingertips.  Which allows him to issue forth with bold predictions like that.  Or is he just another one of those Turks who talks bollards about things they know nothing about.

If he did know anything, then he wouldn't ignore facts like.

This election is not just the old Fethiye area, where this guy will make a stronger showing, but now includes outlying areas, which will probably disrupt some of the traditional voting patterns in Fethiye and in the outlying areas.. In short all to play for.

That the main national opposition CHP candidate - like him or not - who is also an incumbent Mayor, with both strong local and party support, is standing.

That the AKP have almost certainly targeted this new area, either for a win or at the very least a strong showing.

And finally, and this applies to most democratic countries, if any candidate gets 80% of the popular vote then there must be exceptional local reasons why or the successful candidates mates must have carried out the count!! ;D
