Went on official e visa site  tried to find turkey on there ?? Any suggestions

The country you are needing to find in the drop down list is UK, not Turkey.

Not a muppet Baz, I've seen loads of people ask the same thing. It's worded very badly - "Select Country/Region of Your Travel Document"...not clear at all that they want to know your nationality!

Well as I am presently in Qatar and will be home next month and need a visa, do I select UK as I have a brit passport or do I enter Qatar, or will it make any difference

I believe you should enter UK - it is asking for the country your passport is issued by.
