That's just plain crazy. If they think these places have upset the tourist's then what do they think when tourist's see the state of Calis. Surely they should concern them selves more with finishing and tidying the main tourist area's.If I was a tourist this would upset me more than someone trying to get me to eat in their restaurant. At that rate by the weekend no where will be open ,so silly.

VOJOS
Can I ask why you think you were closed.?
Some have suggested jealousy by other businesses.
Some say the tourist's are upset.
Some say the Zabita are overdoing it.
What do you think it is.?
Thanks
Kev                :)

I have been coming to Calis for 9 years and never had a problem with the guys trying to get you in,  a polite no thanks has always done the trick but I have noticed over the last couple of years that they have got quieter. For me taking that bit of banter away will sterilize the front and it will lose its charm

It is the Zabita flexing their muscles at the beginning of the season, they do it every year.  They do the same in Fethiye on the Strip and they also make all the shops who have merchandise outside take it in making it all look very sterile.  I think part of the charm of the area is the miss mash of wares all lending character.  After a couple of weeks it all starts appearing again - good on them!

They closed our little corner shop in Koca Calis whilst we were there the other week. Not 100% sure but I think it was for serving drinks without a licence. I think she was undercutting the local bars a fair  bit as well.

It's back open now evidently. Bottles under the table I guess.

To be fair - if that was the reason then it's probably correct but I bet someone shopped her. (Excuse the pun)

Just spoke to our neighbour who owns the merhaba bar. They have been closed too. He says now 10 closed and maybe 20 next week. We are not allowed to speak to them when we are passing like we usually do. They are not allowed to speak to anyway that are passing. They have been warned if caught they will get longer next time and then closed. Ridiculous

So as high season approaches, 10 and probably more bars will lose out on what is already a difficult enough business to make a living in, and Calis looks half shut. Great.

seems to me to be reasonable. A couple opf weeks ago some restaurants were closed for the same reasons. On this occasion it shows consistency of approach by the authorities.

Closing businesses down because they were talking to people seems fair?
