we also came back from calis on friday and my wife has been in bed since then. She has very painful stomach pains and going to the toilet all the time.
We ate out every night on our last few days but it is very hard to pinpoint it or even know if its down to poor hygiene.
One thing was though we often saw ice and lemon been put into glasses by someones hand.

In SEAsia I've seen a few wearing surgical masks on flights. Seems like it might be a good idea!
Nah, ask any surgeon, the idea of the mask is to assist in reducing the Bacteria a Doctor or Nurse breathes out onto the patient not the other way round! Virus particles are so small that the surgical mask is ineffective, hence the SARS spreading like wildfire in Hong Kong despite the fact that almost the entire population took to wearing surgical masks! Our modern lifestyles are so clinical we have stopped developing our immunities as well which doesn't help. Those of us brought up in the 40's and 50's were exposed to so many virus's and bacterial infections that we really didn't think anything much of it but we have an excellent bank of resistance now! I used to panic whenever I heard about a respiratory virus as with severely damaged lungs from birth (only found out in my 50's) I become pneumonic so easily but it is surprising how strong the human body is. I do hope it has disappeared from Calis by the time I get there though!

Sounds similar to symptoms I had years ago when I returned from Crete.  Turned out to be salmonella.  She needs to go to doctor.  If taking Imodium stop as that prevents bacteria passing through.  But definitely get to GP

That's we thought heather.
Your comment on the Imodium is interesting because I had it when I came back from Majorca and my wife said don't take it,best to let nature take its course.
when I went to the doctors she said I should have taken it.
Mind you doctors get it wrong. ;D

My doctor told me not to take it.  I had been ill about 6 days by then.  Had to hand in a sample for testing and had result and antibiotics in a matter if days.

Face masks DO help. If you want evidence here it is:

They are not foolproof but wearing a respirator can help even more.

Funny enough Maggie had a dicky tummy on our last day. It's been iffy since we got back. Our last meal was a barbie - cooked by me - and we ate exactly the same food. I was fine.

Maybe she picked it up earlier and it took a while to incubate. She blamed it in nervous tummy before we head for home.

Hi to everyone that as have posted notes on here , Seen my daughter today , she is coughing so much and breathless , also pain in throat and ear with headaches . Sweating just like the menopause and us ladies know all about that , but because this virus has attacked the thyroid its making her hormones unsteady too , having 2 kids under 4 ,she is feeling it , Dr trying to get hospital to detect the virus .
I think it was from the shower , I had this feeling just before we used it  , god i wished we had run it for 10 minutes , but if the water tank was infected like someone said then we have had no chance
Thank you also for your concerns , will keep you updated .
As for me still walking round , not dropped yet ha ha still earache and tender throat ,headache comes and goes and the worst is ears feeling blocked and whistling , so back to DR tomorrow , hope he gives me something that helps ....... cheers to everyone all the best Joy

I came back from Calis in May and within a couple of days had really sore throat and cough, which lasted about 2 weeks.
