Returning to Calis in May
« on: November 05, 2014, 22:01:58 PM »
It's been a few years since our last visit to Calis, but we are now going back, but it's in May because of wife's holiday availability.
So just really making sure restaurants and bars will be open, along with other attractions.
I just noticed the water taxis have shut for the winter, but will they be running again in May?

Also, is it still best to take ££'s and change them up in Calis for better exchange rate?

Thanks in advance and see you at the Meeting Point.  8)

Without doubt better to take pounds (English ones) with you to change in Calis

May is a lovely month to visit. Everything will be open.  Take Sterling and change to Lira.
If you visit about the 3rd week, the 3C's have a week of events, which is very good.

Agree it is best to take sterling and change it as and when - you get better rates over there.   We always go the end of May - earlier in May is fine but maybe a bit cool in the evening.

Thanks for your quick replies.
We are going early May and staying at The Oykun Hotel for 10 days. Amazing deal too.

May is the best month to go I think - not too hot (but lovely normally), cooler in the evenings, the resort (and staff) fresh. Oh, and the Oykun is great too  :)

Not too soon at all to ask for dates. I can inform you that Spring next year is from March 20th till June 20th.

Landing on 1st May and getting excited.
Hope you don't mind but sat in the 'rest room' at work and wondered if anyone would like to advise a daily itinerary? We've done all the trips apart from the Ghost Town, so will try and fit that in. But have forgot days of markets and the like. Also who does the best steak meal. Thanks  :)

Calis Market on Sunday, go and have a pancake breakfast at one of the pop up restaurants.  Fethiye Market on Tuesday, but just a larger, hot and more frantic version of the Calis Market.
Best to say what trips you have done so we can advise you.
Have you been to the Kings Garden in Fethiye for a meal?  free pick up and return, up in the Rock Tombs, great views lovely meals.  Book it here on CBF
Also the Istanbul in Kakaykoy (where the Ghost Town is) they have a BBQ night on Saturdays, 40 TL for three course meal, plus entertainment and free transport.
Sorry, cannot help you with Steak,   :-X >:(    ;)  but would advise a trip to the Mozaik Bahce in Fethiye, always No.1 on T.A. and on this Forum, lovely freshly cooked Turkish food, and great staff.   ;D
