Kerennina, you'll be able to watch repeats of Death in Paradise together. How nice.

Just watch out for the centipedes, we had a huge one about 6 inches long, in our living room climbing up a chair one night. Phil got a brush and pan and put it over the garden wall.  Next day it was in the hall as it had just gone under the pan and he brought it back in.  He had to take it out again.   They are poisonous and to be avoided.   ;) :-\

Venomous, not poisonous.   :)

The difference is in the delivery. Poison must be inhaled, ingested, or delivered via touch, while venom is injected into a wound.

Whatever,  I would avoid them however they deliver their poison.    Our Gardener warned us about them and as he is Turkish and we are English,  I think we got the message without the technicalities.   ;)

I've been bitten by one. Although it's not a pleasant experience, it's no worse than a bee sting.

You say that so casually KKOB. I have a life threatening allergy to bee stings. Treatment for a sting in a Turkish Health Centre is ............ interesting. Hilary says she has never seen a syringe so large for use on humans, nor as much blood gushing during injection. Since it was applied via my backside I didn't get to see this (apparently) very amusing event.

I've been stung 3 times by scorpions, 1 of which put me in hospital, once by a centipede and countless times by wasps and bees. Fortunately I've never experienced a hornet sting. I've heard they can make your eyes water a bit.

In the case of the scorpion sting that put me in the Esnaf, I'll always be very grateful to the 2 doctors and 5 nurses that sorted me out with half a dozen injections and comforting words. All for the paltry sum of 85TL.

I think the worst bite I every had was from a horse fly, here in Scotland.  They are vicious things and the bite  was agony and became infected.
