No, would not bother Des.  Eating out and ordering Steak is just boriing for us.
I can remember years ago when I first started going out on dates and a date to Berni Inn with a steak was the thing to do, because menus and food where not that exciting then.  Nowadays you get such wonderful menus and great food, restaurants have all moved on.  I see no point in ordering steak.
that's one thing I agree 100% with you Jacqui, one thing I notice living abroad , its a brits thing, got to have a full English breakfast, and meal at night, steak and chips, was guilty of it myself years ago, then I started to try Turkish cuisine, and started to realise it was not only more healthy for you it was better value, and so much more variety.

What about the schooners of sherry. They gave a terrible headache the next morning.    ;)
I was merely a lad. My parents didn't allow me a schooner - or even a glass. I can't remember the last time I heard anyone order a schooner or anyone ask for a sherry in a pub for that matter.

Colwyn, I am sure they sold them at the Bernie Inn. Can vividly remember them, having difficulty however, remembering anything afterwards until the headache!

Yes they did Sadler, I always thought a schooner was a boat. But I remember people ordering a schooner of sherry and I may have had one or two myself when I was younger and before I liked wine.   :)

I remember going on a date with a Welsh guy who was older than me.  He took me to a Berni Inn in Southport and ordered Prawn Cocktail, Steak and Black Forest Gateau.  I was so impressed.  I thought he was a real man of the world and rushed home to tell my Mother, who was also equally impressed.
In those days eating out on Steak was thought to be so posh and upmarket.  Think I am over that now.

Agree with pretty much all that, plus the obsession with Sunday roast when on holiday.  Admittedly it may be different when you live in these places but why do all the restaurants think we must have roast beef and Yorkshire pudding on holiday.  I don't!

We went to Gocek last Sunday and had a lovely lunch at one of the restaurants there.  The owner started chatting to us and asked where we were from.  Yorkshire, we replied.

Ahh, Yorkshire pudding! he says.  We have problem with our Yorkshire puddings, what am I doing wrong?  Really wanted to tell him not to bother but tried to give him some tips.  i.e.  Auntie Bessies!
     ;D  ;)

A local restaurant review appears on CBF.  The reviewer usually gives the restaurant a glowing report and the main course choosen by the reviewer is usually 99% of the time  steak.   (I note a new one on CBF today)
The other side of the coin is, the most popular restaurant around is the Mozaik Bahce and rightly so.. They don't serve steak....this proves there is life and food beyond steak...  :)    and us Brits can have a night out and eat something other than steak.
If there were more Turkish Restaurants like the Bahce, would us Brits give steak a break for the two weeks of our holidays ?  or would we need a fix   ;D   ;)

Well bearing in mind I rarely order steak at home it wouldn't bother me!   ;)

This brings to mind a holiday we had to Majorca many years ago. There was a large party of us of varying ages.  One couple, a bit older than us, were struggling to find something they liked to eat in the hotel so tried a meal out.  When they got back we asked if they'd enjoyed their meal (something and chips!) they replied - oh no, it was awful, it was cooked in that Spanish fat!   : :) ???

Jacqui, I have given a few reviews over the years and never mentioned steak. Do you have a problem with people enjoying a steak supper?   :)  ;) :o
