.......but wanting to earn a wage..............

He could have earned a wage that didn't involve driving.

Totally agree H. with you 100%  what really annoys me is, he had a history of black-outs, he lied about his medical record to get the job driving the bin lorry after he had passed out at the wheel of a bus.   However, he went on to kill 6 people whilst driving a bin lorry, you would have though after that he would have realised he should not be driving again, but, 15 weeks after the accident he applied for his license back....I really hope he pays for what he has done.

Agreed also, but he didn't. Maybe he couldn't. He also didn't get a job running people down, this was an accident. I'm sure he felt he could do the job safely. He was wrong. Hats off to all the people on here who have never been wrong.

Six people are dead and today has been dominated by the rights of the man that killed them.    Says it all for me.

I defy anyone here to say they have never been wrong Keith.  BUT there is wrong and there is downright dishonest.
He was wrong on a massive scale.  A walking (or driving) time bomb

He may have felt he could do the job safely, but if he had not lied and told the truth at his medical, the Doctors who saw him would have told him and his future employers he could not do the job safely.  I am sure we have all been wrong but not to the point of lying to get a job where peoples lives could be put in danger.

Kevin,  We are all heart sorry for the lost of 6 lives, but this thread is about the man responsible and how some of us feel about him and the fact the Scottish Government are not going to prosecute him.  At the end of the day and for the sake of the lives he took, I feel he should be prosecuted.

Not takng issue.  I am merely pointing out that we all care deeply for the folk that were killed and the news today is dominated by the man that killed them because he is giving evidence today and we are all amazed at his behaviour and we all, like the relatives, want justice.

Scunner –  for the sake of argument, let’s assume that I accept your defense of Mr Clarke’s actions prior to the accident.

It is my opinion that a man with any sense of decency towards the families should now tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth by answering every question put to him as far as he can and not hid behind a legal argument.

And he had the temerity to agreed at the enquiry that he was only looking after his own interests despite being involved, culpably or not, in the death of six people.
