The sooner the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (from Azerbaijan via Turkey into Europe) is completed then the better for Europe and Turkey in their relations with Russia. It is due 2018. If more EU funding would help speed this then it would be money well spent.

OK Guys
Lets just stop it.
We have lived abroad for the last 35 years. Dodging bullets and bombs from London Jakarta Islamabad and many other places.
Putins war ships are not going to sit off Fethiye and start shelling us.
We still feel safer here than we do in central UK and even though its raining it ant anywhere near as cold.
Spent the day at animal aid and then a couple of wines in Merry Bar a lovely day and absolutely no stress
You can not really beat it here after Africa etc

Nobody is doubting what it is like today Steve. There could be a lot of heartache and hardship before many of us hope to visit.

Anyway, for all of that I've reliably informed that if we're in Istanbul at the end of March then we'll also be spending a few days in Fethiye.  So if Putins warships are off the coast of Fethiye, he can kiss my hairy Scottish arse!

Already booked April/ June flights and unless Easyjet cancel these flights,we will be sat in our seats on these dates. If worst comes to worst and flights are cancelled then we'll get our money back so won't lose out. Really don't think this will happen though.

Instead of booking hotel & flights separately this year we have booked a package holiday, at least if all goes 'pear shaped' and the government say no to Turkish travel we can re allocate to elsewhere at no loss, i'm hoping by June everything will have settled somewhat as we are also going with our then to be 1 year old granddaughter, a bit worried, but am hoping all will be ok!!!

We're booked up for next year already, and until we are advised otherwise we are going. However I do work in London and after Paris I must admit I was feeling jittery, but I could be a victim in London or Fethiye. If my number is up, it's up.

Any views on how current/future situation has/will affect travel insurance to Turkey. :(
