We have just returned from Calis after a quick 5nts ( we don't usually come out this early) and yes it was quiet, but then it was when we came out at Easter about 5/6 yesrs ago. I would go as far as saying more places werr open now than back then.
Went into fethiye on monday and couldn't park anywhere in the harbour car park or the streets as they were full it was certainly busier than we expected.
Had a trip down to olu Deniz and only one or 2 shops were preparing to open and only 1 bar open, we were told by a friend that some of the bigger hotels will not be opening untill the 1st June this year. On the other hand we drove through Hissaronu and I would say a good third of the establishment s were open.
We visited gocek, also a fair bit open.
On the whole had a few lovely days and I would like to add at no time during our stay did we feel threatened or unsafe, quite the opposite in fact so relaxing it made you forget about all the s..t going on in the world right now.
Should start a new thread instead of Are you still going ? How about how did you feel when you were there?

I went to Fethiye market on Tuesday and didn't see any tourists but the locals are back out and carrying on and traffic almost back to normal.
Went to Kaya and saw a handful of
 tourists.
Someone mentioned the Zarrab case, Twitter is full of it and for the first time in months many Turks are full of hope that things will unravel and lead to positive change.

Here in Hisaronu... 65%  ish   open, but apart from a few property owners  around... and a few groups of girls  hanging around bar staff... in all very few here.. however its only Mid April
Word has it that bookings in hotels are 40%  down from UK visitors and apartments to renters are really struggling with bookings.. but apparantly  turkish visiting holiday makers are predicted to increase in the area  this year....great for them,  but  no good for the bars / restaurants / and shops  etc  as they dont spend like brit holiday visitors
According to the turkish press.... barring no more major terrorist incidents   ...its going to take two to three years to recover.....   stickie times ahead for the area  methinks   :(

I booked with easy jet to come out next Thursday 21st I first looked at Thomas cook from Newcastle all in £170 each thought I will wait a couple of days see if it drops logged back on the next day could only book for one person looked at easy jet the out bound price gone up by £20 in bound stayed the same so I booked it just over £200 each disappointed but the old adage you snooze you lose looked at easy jet website to see if the price had gone down out bound gone up by £30 in bound gone up by £10 and says only a few seats left so people are still going. I think that people are waiting and booking late see how things are first and maybe bag a bargain
