Turkey's Tourism Minister

This guy is a complete plank. If we are to believe, that he believes everything he says, the bucket of sand he's sticking his head in must be bigger than Olu Deniz beach.

One of his recent quotes: "I believe the reservations for Turkey will rebound again by the end of April and we will close the year with only 20 percent of loss compared to the previous year"

Aye right...

Ah, but the Emperor has some nice, new clothes.

Dare he say anything else?

Was looking through a travel section of the times and read this article.......the bad news continues.

Wonder if the very insightful Tourist Minister gets to read foreign newspaper articles

We thought about not coming this year with everything going on but after lots of consideration we came to the conclusion that after last year's disasterous holiday elsewhere and missing the previous 2 years due to various reasons we need a dose of Calis Beach! We have just booked for September and can't wait. Expecting lots of changes since we last visited but will be on that plane come hell or high water.   :)

Good for you. I remember a wonderful post of many years ago where an (alleged) tourist described Calis in these terms. According to her account, she had been attacked by a bear that lived in a tent on the beach and was nearly drowned by a freak giant wave. Sounds like hell and high water to me.

If I spent every waking moment worrying I'd make myself a nervous wreck. I have a daughter who is a 'civil servant' in London, a Son who works at a large London mainline station, their Dad (my ex husband) is an armed met police officer, I live minutes from Bluewater shopping centre and use the Dartford crossing daily!! Any could be a potential target, we just have to get on with life, be vigilant, sensible and hope for a brighter future???? (She says with hair greying by the day!!) Anyway, looking forward to 2 weeks of bliss and hope that the tourism picks up for all concerned!

Good for you Lynn. I also had some doubts early on about coming to Calis this year (didn't bother OH at all!) But then decided I would miss it like mad so we'll be there in 9 days time and we can't wait!   ;D 8)

Just heard that our local shop for the odd tipple etc. opposite the full time market, is closing next week due to lack of business.
Shame as we have been using them for the last 5 years and we always get some type of discount and they will deliver.
So if it effects these small local shops we could see big changes.
