I was in Çaliş last Friday when the coup took place.  We had been out for a nice meal at a local restaurant, My Place.  Nice relaxed evening, just me and OH after getting rid of 2 of our grown up daughters and their BF's, who flew home Friday evening.

All l'm going .to say is that if we had not looked at our smart phones, we would of been non the wiser that anything had happened.  Saturday morning was no different to any other morning.  Totally chilled Çaliş.  Spoke to friends still there tonight and again, they said that all was calm and no change in Çaliş.

So, my view is go and enjoy!

We will be back on 26th August.  Unless they physically stop us boarding the plane at Birmingham, we will be back with more family/friends.

Her indoors arrived last night (5 weeks) with 4 grandkids. Full flight from Edinburgh.
"what's all the fuss about, nothing has changed and the sun is out this morning".
Meanwhile him indoors is at work for another 2 weeks.
Don't let the paper talk put anyone off having a good holiday.

We will be visiting in September.  I find it strange that everyone keeps telling us we will get cheap flights as not many people are going to Turkey.  I am yet to find any cheap flights.  They are working out the same price we always pay around £500 plus for the two of us.

Having booked 5 return flights to Turkey in September 2015 for a June 2016 holiday we reclaimed £750 in form of vouchers because prices had dropped by that much by April. We have to spend these vouchers by Sept/Oct this year or they become invalid. So will we book flights to Turkey for 2017?

We have been travelling to Turkey for 20 years. We love the country: its beautiful landscapes and fascinating history; its people; its lifestyle (on the coast anyway); its food and drink; the whole package. We have many friends there. Will we be going in 2017? We don't know. Seeing the vile things that are happening in post-coup Turkey and watching Erdogan establish himself as despot can we justify to our consciences visiting the country as happy holidaymakers? We have until September to make up our minds.

I have booked July 2017 gatwick to dalaman £83 return and Sept 2017 for £93 at that price it won't break the bank if things change.
Until then I will continue to visit for a short break every other month and can't wait to get there soon.

It is fine if you live in the London area, you will always get a cheap flight.  Different story if you live in Scotland. I have check out any Scottish airport flights for September.  They are all coming up around £500.00 for two.
