Manchester is one of the better airports in the north. However I do prefer the smaller ones like East Midlands, which is only 90mins from York. Leeds is the worst! £3 to park to get dropped off, queues miles long and winds from hell when you land. We even had an aborted landing on the 29th June - no winter required to make it hard work there! Got two wheels down and then he just accelerated and took off again!

Flying from Liverpool to Faro in October. Now that is a strange airport. Not only do we always seems to have to walk to the plane but we usually end up in arrivals laughing at the scally birds in their rollers and onesies. They get bad cross winds too - from the Mersey. Should be interesting as we also had an aborted landing there the last time. :o

Needs must though - we are getting a free flight out with our Emirates miles (Easyjet) and we are paying to fly home with Ryanair. Saved us about £200  :)

We flew  back into Dalaman from Bristol on Wednesday, the plane was full, there were two other UK flights landed at around the same time.Passport control was extremely busy
But there only three passengers on our transfer bus including us,the least we have known at this time of year, going to the Calis area.
So, where did they go,whats wrong with the Calis area
Any one flying from Bristol, EasyJet are still using the old manual system for checking in luggage, but the new x ray cabin luggage route is now very through, taking twice,at least,as long as previously, caused a bit of a tail back.

Me too, East Midlands was a good alternative when we lived down south. If you like small airports you'd love Dundee, when you enter there are two doors across the room - arrivals and departures - not much different to the Ladies & Gents down the pub :D

After Aberdeen Airport so small and easy to get around.  I would hate to go back to Manchester.  I could write about 2 pages of all the awful things about this place.

You mean just like Dalaman (latterly domestic term.) used to be like - one door in, one door out.

I'm still not convinced how you would fill two pages of  'awful things' Jacqui.  Manchester is a large international airport and the third busiest in the UK so to compare it with Aberdeen is a bit unfair.  Of course at times it is very busy, but I've often been when it's very quiet. It's also very easy to fly long haul to anywhere in the world from Manchester.  We flew to New Zealand last year with Emirates from there, via Dubai, first stop Singapore, then onward.

We consider ourselves quite lucky where we live to have Manchester about 40 minutes away (that's with quiet early morning traffic!) Leeds/Bradford nearer in miles but can take a bit longer to get to, and Liverpool and East Midlands in easy reach.  I don't have any problem with Manchester and anyway an airport is just a means to an end.  As long as it gets me on that plane to fly away I'm happy!   ;D  8)

In reply to Jacqui's comments about Manchester Airport - I personally have no problem whatsoever with it and have been using it regularly for many years.  Infact below is the results of a survey issued earlier this month when passengers were asked to vote which was the best airport in Britain.

"Manchester Airport is Britain's best airport, according to UK travellers! The third busiest airport in the UK welcomes more than nine million passengers each year and hit the top spot for the best customer service, facilities and shopping, as well as the best bars and restaurants. Passengers commended it for being well organised, passenger-friendly and for its accessibility".

So as you can see not everyone thinks Manchester Airport is the Airport from hell.
