Yes of course the Express hates Turkey (good for sales) and many Express readers who send in comments represent ugly racist bigotry. I am as eager to condemn extremist right-wing propagandists (like the Express) as anyone. But the Express isn't the cause of empty Turkish hotels: we all know that. The Express highlights violent national groups patrolling the streets. The Turkish PM called upon citizens to reclaim the streets and save democracy. Was it a surprise that this was the green light to extreme rightist thugs to come out and the daylights out anybody to whom they took a dislike? What would happen in the UK if our PM called for people to go onto the streets to defend the UK from Islamists? Would BNP thugs and their mates feel empowered to go out and cause mayhem. Think about the several hundreds of hate crimes that have been committed since the Brexit vote.
Who is to blame? Who gave financial support to ISIS, sent arms across the border, and turned a blind eye to free tree travel of ISIS soldiers across the border? Who turned a blind eye to new ISIS recruits landing in Istanbul and then travelling to the South East? Who cozied up to the Kurds until they didn't vote for him and then re-declared war on them in order to win MHP (Nationalist) support? It starts with E but it isn't Express.
