I would think that those who have no interest in trying to stop this cement factory going ahead, just stop wasting thier time and ours by not posting on this thread at all.

And Chris seeing as the photo Stoop took from his and your friends garden and I know these people as well seeing that they are right in line with the proposed cement factory I would have thought for their sake you would try to help to get it stopped, that is what I would do for a friend.

Crabbit, I just think you are stiring the S**t and should stop and go and have an Effes.

Firo,

Crabbit only moderates on the football section. He is entitled to his opinions just as we are entitled to disagree with them.

Personally I would just ignore him and get this thread back on track. He lives in in his 'perfect world' in Koycegiz where there is no crime, no mossies and obviously no plans to build a cement factory. Maybe if there were his attitude would be a little different.

Sue - thanks - the photo is a little misleading as it is a long way to the quarry from where I took the picture. I don't think being 'right in line' will really make that much difference as it will be the direction of the wind that will determine who gets the sH*t on any particular day. The whole of Uzumlu will suffer from the output.

In my opinion, anyone who lives or owns a house there should join the protest to stop this being built. If they don't then it's probably because they can't be bothered or they are trying to sell their property and don't really want the publicity.

..and I agree - those who are not interested in stopping this factory should ignore this thread.

Good luck.

Stoop & Susan
This is a discussion forum, not a forum for members to post only what you want to hear.
I stand by my earlier comments that Uzumlu belongs to Turkey & the Turkish people and if they wish to build a cement factory there, that is their perogative.

Stoop
I don`t live in a "perfect world" and I have no right whatsoever to complain if the Turks want to build anything near my property.
I will continue posting on this forum as long as I am a member, whether you like it or not.

deleted - I can't be ar8ed anymore.

Keep up the fight Uzumlu residents. You have the right to protest if something is going to affect your lifestyle and your health - no matter what nationality or part of the world you are from.

Is it the turkish government that is building this factory or a commercial venture, as it would seem by crabbit post that it's the government that is building this.

Calm down everyone. It's all getting a bit heated. Crabbit does not even live in the village so I take his views 'with a pinch of salt'and treat them accordingly. Yes, I have signed the petition as I do not want this wretched factory a. because the continuing wrangle will devalue our properties further and b. it will affect detrimentally our living conditions here. I would like to record that I admire all you activists for your efforts but I will not get personally involved as I believe, having lived amongst the Turks for 18 months, our views will count for nought. Big bucks will decide this issue. Despie my cynicism I do wish you well.

I think the whole cement factory proposal is outrageous.

I agree. I think it is disgusting that a Turkish company in Turkey (their country) would have the audacity to open a cement factory in an area where the English have invaded (oops, bought property).
Where the hell would you expect them to build it ? England !!!

Crabbit (ready for the flak)

Pathetic

Eric, all,

What is next ? Can we list the actions that we can take or taking place ? I was in that tea garden meeting, my understandins from urantas reps ( son of the big boss) and tema reps were:

1) Urantas has ALL the permissions to build cement factory.
2) They pass all the 'checklists', including enviromental tests (!!!)
3) They claim that they will build the factory with most advance technology (!!  B..l Shi..thh )
4) My biggest dissapointment was approach of TEMA, as theye were aware of this plan and they were part of the inspection group (big ? )...
5) On next day, we went to see a lawyer and ask him to take our case.
6) Our short term objective ( if urantas has all the permissions ) should be "Stop this project and ask for another enviromental check..." Lawyer will look at it and investigate how far they have their ppwk is done.
7) As being a 'Turk' myself and knowing my people I am sure
a)this project kept quite all the wayyyyyyyyyyy.....
b)villagers are not educated enough to understand what imapacts will bring this factory.
c) Koru koy muhtar is another big ?...  Infact, I went to koru koy and ask for muhtar and waited for him good an hour, he was 'somewhere'...
d) Uzumlu Belediyesi another big ?...
e) They build such a wide road tgrough forest, this is increadable that no one see it ? no one ask question ? this road was not there in april...  who gave permission ? needs investigation...  maybe we can cath them at this point...

Finaly, clear ACTION PLAN required and we all need to support.

Can we turn this project. I DO BELIVE we can, if we use national media and visit Ankara...and BBC ? UK propety companies ?

I am prepared to do what ever required and what ever I can. Just let us know..  ( I am living in Belgium )
