There I was yesterday in local bar/restaurant and it was raining outside. Where were the smokers? Inside ofcourse, brits and turkish. Nowhere to stand out of the rain while they had a fag I expect. Then I thought, if the Police come in would they all be fined plus bar owner?

I think we can safely assume the 'alleged' smoking ban never got off the ground!!!

oh june how wrong you are...i know of one pub that is being watched...believe me ..one of the bars soon will be fined, its winter and less bars are open so less bars to watch..mark my words..it wont be long till some one is posting they or there bar has been done for allowing smoking inside of there premisses

We were in Serkul 1 the other night and the smokers were outside, really enjoyed the meal as well.

So, has anyone been fined yet ? Just wondering how much the ban is being upheld and if the smokers in Turkey are as well behaved as they are in the UK - standing outside in the rain and snow for a smoke.

All the bars we have been in this winter except one, the customers and staff have all gone outside in all weathers to smoke. The other I just did not go back.

Also if you are one of the bars that allow this dont let people take photos of customers smoking and and then put it on this forum ,how stupid is that.

Don't want to mention about name, but I heard a place is fined for 5.000 TL.
