Totally agree with you Bluewise there should be some choice but unfortunately there isnt!  Government told breweries that with no smoking more families and no smokers would go to the pubs.  This didn't happen!!  A lot of pubs were made family friendly but the families cannot afford to go out for a meal in one of these establishments.  Non smokers still stayed at home and the smokers stayed away which is why approx 40-50 pubs close down every week.

By the way after 11pm on a lock-in the non smokers are quite happy to sit opposite a smoker - I wonder why?

Still don't see charges for internet postings are going to make up for lost revenue is it another pie in the sky idea I think so!!

How about a £1 tax for every question asked on CBF that has already been asked and can be found simply by using the search facility?

All revenues to me of course, not the Government  ;)

Scunner with respect, if everyone just used the search facility would the forum not die? As a relative newbie to this forum i like to look for the latest opinions on things rather than seeing what someone thought about a question maybe a year or two ago.

Just an observation!

Would the forum die? I doubt it, I've been trying to kill it for years :D

The point is that most answers are here already and it is quicker to search for it than to ask the question. The £1 idea above was a joke by the way.

Hi
In Nerderlands tonight.
Holland as we call it.
In the last week spent time here, Germany and France. All no smokiking bars/Hotels.
Also transport was no smoking. Result. Instead of 2 paks (plus) a day, one pack lasted me nearly 3 days.
Funny, I didn't miss them

Just an observation, bars seem to be adhering to the ban but nightclubs are definitely not!
Every nightclub i've been to this winter is full of people smoking and plenty of ashtrays around - perhaps its ok as long as the Zabita (or whoever polices the ban) are tucked-up in bed.

Ok can I get this right - if you are at a bar or restaurant but you have a table outside/not under cover is it then ok to smoke?
Thanks
